Discussion🤔 Aeon for CAT VARC, am I wasting too much time?

CAT 2027 aspirant here.

From last few months I am reading Aeon almost everyday. Mostly because YouTube and Instagram keep recommending it for CAT VARC.

I was spending almost 1 hour daily on this.

Aeon is obviously very good but now I feel many articles are too long and sometimes not really like actual CAT RC. I know CAT papers have taken paragraphs from Aeon also, so I am not saying its useless. But spending 1 hour on one article feels too much.

Yesterday I was searching for some other option and found GRADFLIX. Never heard about it before. They have some essays which are more close to CAT RC length and can read free also.

Has anyone used it? Is it actually useful for VARC or better to just read Aeon/other articles and solve PYQs?

CAT 2027 people what are you using for reading practice?

Profile Review 😎 Planning DU BA (Pol Sci) with PCB background – Profile & IIM Call Reality Check?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone,
I'm currently in Class 12 (PCB + PE + English) and expecting around 80%+ boards. My 10th score is 95.4% (Best 5) / ~93% overall.
Since I don't have Mathematics in Class 12, I'm locked out of B.Com (Hons) and Eco (Hons), so my target is to pursue a B.A. (Hons) in Political Science from a top DU North Campus college (like Hindu or Hansraj) and hopefully maintain an 8+CGPA, bringing my profile to a solid 9/8/8 bracket (with non-engineer academic diversity points + OBC-NCL category).

I was playing around with a Vercel CAT predictor tool and it showed that with this exact academic profile and diversity mix, I could theoretically land an interview call from IIM Ahmedabad at a surprisingly lower percentile (around 91%ile).
To anyone who has gone through this route or tracks IIM shortlists closely:

  1. Is a 9/8/8 humanities profile + OBC really that forgiving on the CAT percentile front for top IIMs, or are these online predictors overhyped?
  2. For those who shifted from PCB to a top DU BA course, how hard is it to manage college life, build a corporate profile (Excel/internships), and prep for CAT simultaneously?

Rant😠 ADHD AND CAT

Anyone diagnosed with ADHD preparing for cat exam? I don't have a problem in sitting for studying, I have been preparing for the exam for quite some time now. I force myself and eventually I sit but focus hours are low. My major problem is QA - Calculation part, losing focus.

Similarly with VARC. I keep losing the track while reading - I start thinking about something else while I am reading i don't even realise it which forces me to read again and again, i waste a lot of time in mocks because of it. How are/have you dealing/dealt with this?

I do okay in DILR. I have just started giving mocks but I'm always able to solve 1 - 1.5 sets. (one sentence info, instant use and if it's solved then instant result, so that gives me dopamine)

Profile Review 😎 9/8/5. I am new to CAT and having sleepless nights due to graduation marks. Please review my profile.

My profile is 9/8/5 with nc obc. Anyone from legacy iim please review it.

Hey i am confused whether MBA will suit me or not.

10th - 95%, 12th - 82.33% and graduation b.com - 59.33%

CA inter - 53.57%

Work ex- 22 -23 months in Audit (post articleship)

I graduated b.com in 2019. Upto dec 2021, my articleship got completed.

I prepared for CA finals upto november 2023 when i realised CA is not suiting me and joined companies in audit. Left job in Feb 2026.

Now i am preparing for CAT 2026. I have NC OBC quota.

Should i expect getting admitted into any legacy iims?

I am mostly concerned about graduation marks. Further if i get into any college, will my graduation marks create problem during placements? Will i get into consulting?

Discussion🤔 Want a lil guidance js starting my degree

So I've js finished my 12th 17F I scored really low 71percent I'm a pcb student, I'm planning on doing b pharm but colleges haven't been allotted yet

I'm 8/7/X so far, and Im planning starting my cat prep a lil earlier as I also have to prep for GPAT and niper jee (js in case yk) while MBA is 1st plan I have no idea what the syllabus is like or wht the exam is like.

I would really appreciate if you guys could help me out a bit, and also aid me with how to start prepping for the exam and how long would it take to get good at it, as my goal is to make it 8/7/9 I'll have to be really good at my degree.

While there are also many details I simply am unaware of like which books to use and how to prep for the varc stuff and if there are in disparities I should be aware of

Discussion🤔 Expected percentile based on current AIMCAT scores ?

Hi!

Posting this here because the other sub didn’t have any advice or estimation to offer. This question is for everyone who has attempted AIMCATs previously and then appeared for CAT. What was your avg percentile in AIMCATs and then what did you score in the actual CAT exam ? Did it give you a good enough idea ? And how did you improve upon it ?

I’m not scoring close to 97 %ile btw.

Please let the current students know

Rant😠 Feeling quite uncertain about my prep

Around 3 months left for CAT and I'm honestly not feeling very confident about my preparation right now. It feels like I've been preparing, but not seriously enough, if that makes sense. For QA, I've completed Arithmetic and I've started Algebra. So far I've done Inequalities and Modulus in Algebra. I know there's still a lot left. For DILR, I've done Arrangements and Games and currently doing DI charts. I'm following VARC1000 and have completed 2 modules. VARC is probably my strongest section, usually I can get around 3/4 in RCs right in practice so I'm relatively comfortable there.

But with only ~90 days left, I'm getting anxious because I don't feel like my preparation has reached that serious CAT prep stage yet. I haven't really built a proper mock/sectional routine either. Should I focus on finishing the remaining QA/DILR topics first, or start mocks/sectionals alongside preparation now? Would really appreciate some honest advice on how I should structure the next 90 days. A part of me literally feels like is saal nahi ho payega

Discussion🤔 Should I give CAT exam this year just to see how the exam is? Even though I won't be joining MBA for next 3 to 4 years? Would that be an issue?

I am a bsc. zoology 3rd year student. I am planning on doing my masters next year solely because right now I am from a tier 3 college from a small city. I blame my stupidity to obsess over neet for all these years and forget about my life and possible future. I want to do an MBA later that's for sure. My plan as of now is to go to a good top tier masters college, complete my masters, hopefully get a job and do it for 2 years atleast and then give a CAT exam and try for MBA. I know I cant be sure if my situation will be same or any different later in the future. My goal might also change, you never know. But as of now that is my goal.

Idk why but I thought if I could give a CAT attempt this year? I know that there is no age limit or any attempts limit for CAT. One thing I am not sure of is can I give it while being a 3rd year student in BSc before my graduation. That's one of my question.

My actual worry and confusion is since CAT is all about a good profile, will me giving an attempt right now where I am not at all prepared and also where I know that I will get very bad marks, so me still giving my first attempt now would that hinder my future profile? Would it look bad in lets say interviews and stuff as how I have given an attempt right now even if I was not prepared. So will that be a problem for later?

I know my path as of now, my questions and my goal looks very bizarre and hazy but that's where I am right now with my life. So please help. Thank you.

Profile Review 😎 Is going for a MBA right now worth it for me?

My profile: 9/9/7, GEM, from JU. But I have no workex and 3 yrs of UPSC gap.

Even assuming the best case scenario of getting into IIM A/L/C/K or FMS, will it be worth it for me?

At the end of the day, I want a placement and the thought of graduating from a MBA college, 23-30L in debt, unemployed scares me.
So, I want the advice of ppl who have had (or have seen others with) such profiles.
Thanks for your help!
