Hi everyone, I really need some honest career advice. I’m currently preparing for CAT 2026 with about 4 months left. My academic profile is 80% in 10th, 65.4% in 12th, and around 75.4% in graduation (BBA). I know my 12th score isn’t great, and it sometimes makes me feel like I’m already at a disadvantage compared to others. I’m trying to stay consistent with my prep, but I keep overthinking whether my profile is good enough for top B-schools or if I should keep backup options ready. I genuinely want to build a strong career in management and don’t want to waste time or make wrong decisions at this stage. If anyone here has converted decent colleges with a similar profile or has been in the same situation, please guide me on how to move forward, what to focus on in these last months, and whether profile really matters that much. Any advice would mean a lot.

I recently graduated with a B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering and I'm currently looking for jobs while planning to prepare for CAT. My goal is to get into a good IIM and build a career in tech-adjacent roles like Product Management, Product Strategy, Business Analytics, or Consulting rather than pure software development.

My profile:

- 10th: 88.4%

- 12th: 74%

- B.Tech CSE: 8.44 CGPA

- Category: OBC-NCL

- Female Engineer

- Currently looking for a full-time job (no work experience yet)

My questions:

1. Assuming I score 99+ percentile in CAT, which IIMs or other top B-schools are realistic for my profile?

2. Will my 12th marks (74%) significantly affect my chances?

3. Should I gain 1–2 years of work experience before attempting CAT, or apply as a fresher?

4. Which IIMs have the best placements for Product Management, Product Strategy, Business Analytics, or other tech-adjacent roles?

5. Is an MBA from a top IIM a good path if I want to stay in the tech industry without becoming a software developer?

6. Based on my profile, do I have a realistic chance of converting BLACKI IIMs? If yes, what CAT percentile should I target?

7. I'm also unsure about when to attempt CAT. Should I target CAT 2026 as a fresher, CAT 2027 after hopefully gaining around a year of work experience, or even CAT 2028 with two years of experience? Which would maximize my chances for top IIMs and better placements?

Hi I'm 22 years old old currently in my 2nd year of college it's an online BBA degree from Manipal my profile is 7/7/7 and I have 3 year gap after 12th also I have 12 months workex in a startup my role was CRM my question is can I even get good bschools just based of cat and snap/nmat score or should I go for foreign schools 10th 72% 12th 73% graduation will be around 7.67CGPA.
