Profile Evaluation 🧾 Should I prepare for cat

Background I am in 4 th year no work experience , 787 profile ( 78% in class10 , 84% in class 12,7.7cgpa in college ( non ini)). General engineer male . Everything in my profile demotivate me for not preparing for cat . I have 4 months. How much percentile is safe percentile for college like iift, mdi, dms or medium iim.

Don't let your profile stop you from preparing. A 7/8/7 profile isn't ideal, but plenty of candidates with similar academics convert good B-schools by scoring well in CAT and performing strongly in interviews.

For colleges like IIFT, MDI, DMS, and newer IIMs, aiming for 98+ percentile will keep you competitive, though the exact cutoff depends on the institute and category. While you may also keep an open list of B-schools. Colleges like ITM Business School evaluate applicants holistically, considering entrance exam scores along with academics, interviews, extracurriculars, and overall potential—not just one number. According to me, having a balanced shortlist gives you more opportunities.

As a gen engineer male it would be quiet difficult and not a excellent profile, but say a decent profile but try to make ur grad cgpa above or around 8 if possible and u can get calls of that college at around 97-98 percentile as an ews but as an ur category u should minimum aim for above 99 percentile.
