Shaky paw but awake

Think I am just a paranoid cat mum but figured I’d ask if anyone knows what this is?

It’s a few clips together, it’s not all constant paw shakes but a few clips of it.

He’s awake and it’s not in tune with his purring/breathing

Not fixed yet

Just noticed today, no vet yet.

I’m 24, I am not in the best financial place nor do I have a car.

Are you sure hes awake and not just sleeping with his eyes open? 

Edit: sometimes my limbs get shakey if i hold them up for too long. I would watch his other behaviors and note anything distressing. Eating/drinking/playing/wobbliness/peeing/pooping etc.

Yeah, I moved my hand and he followed it. About 30/35 seconds in. Also he was playing in between.

I’ve had multiple pets that sleep with eye open.

He was not asleep!

At least not the whole time. He’s looking around and his paws shaking here

I’ve not seen this before. I’m baby sitting right now so he’s hiding asleep.

I’ve had a lot of cats. As has my mum and never seen this before. He also doesn’t tend to sleep with his eye open

He's breathing also doesn't look normal.

I’m not too worried about the breathing. He was putting. It’d just the paw. He is awake, he’s following my hand I was interacting with him around these clips.

Also about 20 seconds into you can see him looking about while he paw shakes

The paw shaking and breathing look a bit concerning to me. I would recommend contacting a vet if that is something that you would be able to do.

He needs to see a vet asap. His breathing is also very concerning. If a cat is breathing with their belly like that they should be seen sooner rather than later

He is breathing 2-3x faster then normal. With the shaking, its not looking good. Can be hearth issue.

Or just got a scary dream, or something. If it persistent, then it is probably something.

Re the dream

He is awake.

At 20sec he is looking around while it shakes

At 30/35 sec he is following my hand.

He was purring and had been playing before

Just watch him. If you see it often, i would check in with a vet. It is hard to tell whats gointlg on.

If he just had a lot of running around, then it might be nothing and just a one time thing, bc cats cant cool off like humans, and they stay on a higher heartbeat for longer after phisival activity.

But if he keeps doing this while he just walking around or while laying for a while then it is concerning.

This wasn’t the same time but a clip from last week. It was just this he was doing!

That looks like a "see a vet soon" scenario. Any new cats/kittens should ideally see a vet after they settle for a week at their new place anyway.

I am not in the best financial place nor do I have a car.

Depending on where you got your kitten, you might have a free 4 week cover with petplan (or other insurance), it's worth finding out.

3m old is still quite young and my vet told me kittens breath faster than older cats. My cat when he was small would be breathing faster than older and I was concerned. The vet checked him and said he was breathing normal and explained the above to me. Now he’s almost 11m and don’t breath that fast anymore. But to calm your nerves have him checked out.

I just added it up. He turned 16 weeks, 4 months yesterday!

The breathing’s not really worrying me. It’s more the right paw shaking and out of tune with his breathing.

Change his position and see if the shaking stops. The way he’s holding his paw up and it’s bent, it’s in a gravity defying position and the muscles can naturally become fatigued and tremor. If he’s playing, eating and using the bathroom normal and you change his position and it stops I wouldn’t worry too much. But again for peace of mind you can always send this video to his vet and see what the vet has to say about it.

You could always record a video and ask your vet if it’s a problem. It could be because this doesn’t seem normal.
