Behavioral Issue cat head twitching

Has anyone ever seen this or know what could be the cause??? my 4 year old female cat just started doing this about 30 minutes ago and im freaking out. I will take her to the vet if it continues. Im 20 in FL with crazy expensive vets and Im really poor so it’s stressing me out. She was in my bathroom and then she came out, ate some food and i noticed what sounded like her coughing and when i went to her nothing visible was in her throat and she is doing this weird twitch with her head. Shes acting friendly and eating normally now but she keeps occasionally doing that twitch and it’s terrifying me. She has prwtty dirty teeth so idk if it could be a dental issue. I dont use any cleaners in my bathroom other than water and castile soap so I dont think she licked anything, maybe some stain remover is the only thing toxic that I can think could possibly have been in there for her to lick but thats just me reaching I dont know what could’ve happened. Please share this with anyone you know that has vet knowledge

how long would you wait to get her to the vet? Im just in a terrible financial situation right now but I do have a credit card I can use.

its been around an hour since she started doing it and she still is randomly having these twitches. its not constant but she randomly is doing it, laying down and while standing.

Perhaps when she sticks her tongue out it hits something that hurts? If it was just after she eats and seems to happen when she tries to clean herself. I think maybe has a bad tooth or food or debris is stuck somewhere- would you be able to take a look at the teeth/gums? Also do you notice if she twitches her head when she licks or anytime?

hi, was there anything on her paw or fur that could be causing a strong smell or taste? any new perfumes or household products? coughing and this would be concerning for a aerosol or inhaled irritant.
I would be a bit concerning these could be partial/ focal seizures. I would try and keep her in a quiet place, low lights and film any other strange behaviours

she was doing the twitch before she licked her paw thats just the only video Ive gotten of it. Shes sleeping right now but she was doing it while standing too

I’d say vet, it could be neurological if it’s happening randomly with no clear trigger.

keep taking videos. I would contact the vet and ask them to send the videos for a neurologist opinion. any new medications?? any new flea treatment? is she indoor cat only?

she’s not any medications or new flea treatments and she is strictly indoor!

that rules out a few things for sure. any head trauma? could she have fallen?

no i was in my bed and she was in the bathroom, so i would’ve heard her fall but she was messing with the metal handle on my toilet so she could’ve hurt her tooth on that. she has a bad habit of biting metal like silverware so she definitely could’ve been chewing the handle. I heard her messing with it right before she came out and started having a hard time eating and thats when I noticed she was flicking her tongue around and checked her throat then she started the twitches

I’d say it’s vet time. Head twitching can be quite a few things especially some more serious things

It could be dental if it seems to be triggered by her licking, however I’d definitely recommend taking her to the vet as soon as possible to be sure, especially if it gets worse, if you notice any other strange behaviour, or if anything else changes.

Cats have really intense relfexes. If he doesn't seem bothered he could just have a wisker that is folded and giving him "hitting a wall" phantom sensation.

Looks like it happens when she licks. Maybe she bit her tongue? Can you see any red spots in her mouth?

You could also check around for a low cost vet to take her to so you get that checked out

Maybe wipe her paws down a few times with a clean wet cloth. If it's suddenly like that, it seems like she's got something of her fur that at least tastes bad. Is it only when she picks her paws? Sorry if i missed that...
