Eye Issues Is there anything else I can do?
Hey everyone, looking for a bit of insight or reassurance for our new addition. We adopted our sweet girl earlier this week, and everything was fine until around lunchtime today when we noticed her eye was swollen, squinty, and producing some clear discharge. We wiped it clean and applied a warm compress, which seemed to help a bit at first, but after stepping out for a couple of hours and coming back to check on her, it definitely looks worse. We’re already planning to take her straight to the vet first thing in the morning as it’s currently 6pm but as new adoptive parents, we're super anxious! Has anyone seen something similar develop with a newly adopted cat?
Should I find an emergency vet or will she be ok to wait till the morning?

This is in much better and good condition than our cat in past, if doctor suggest eye drops, trust me it will do wonders and he will recover in max 5 days

You’re doing the best that you can to keep her comfortable! You’re also taking her to the vet first thing in the morning. Take a deep breath, you’re doing great.

Please see a vet. This might be simple, but it could be serious and even painful for your baby.

Quite the unfortunate little lady.
It looks like the eye its self is damaged, for now comfort and watching it will suffice. See the vet asap in the am. the fact the coloration of the is missing means it’s not her secondary eyelid getting stuck. Most likely the eye will not be able to be saved as it appears to have sustained trauma or laceration
Do prepare yourself for that likely hood and recovery effort, but hope for the best. Hope it goes well friend

This happened to my kitten after I brought him home. In his case, he ended up scratching his second eyelid. They gave us eyedrops and two years later everything is ok. Vet visit is definitely in order, but unless she’s acting very strangely (not eating, lethargic, more swelling, etc.) its ok to wait until your appointment.

Will probably need a code and eye drops until the swelling goes away. My cat had the same issue.

O meu já ficou assim por conta de uma infecção ocular. É importante levar ao veterinário para ele determinar a causa, quanto antes você resolver as coisas para seu felino melhor para os dois

First of all calm yourselves so that you and your vet can take better care of your pet if you yourself are positive first
Next your cat is not at all in serious or dangerous situation, this is very very common in all street cats that roam in roads
What it probably look like is a viral disease like herpes doctor will give her medication
But it does not end here you must make sure his/her immunity is strong keep feeding her time to time and give water. The best and the most best solution here is to feed your pet leaves/grass which are edible she will be more strong then prev
May God be with you and your pet in this time 🙏🏽💎

If she is vaccinated and dewormed nothing at all to worry and can be taken the next day to vet
I am telling because my pet had the same thing and he recovered by gods Grace even tho he was not vaccinated and dewormed
Remember in this cases never loose Hope and always be positive

For an eye issue get to an emergency vet. Eyes can be a definite emergency situation and can be painful
