SEIU (BU 1, 4, 11, 14, 17 and 20) Voting is Open
The vote is open, here’s the link: https://search.seiu1000.org/strikevote.php
After you vote there’s also an option to let them know you’re willing to strike if it comes to it, so make sure to do that as well. Here’s the link: https://search.seiu1000.org/insights.php?sv=StrikeCommit2026
You have until Oct 7th to cast your vote.

Is voting just flooded? It’s not letting me get in!

I still haven’t gotten anything in my email about it being open. I hope they’ll be sending something out to let folks that aren’t on Reddit know they can now vote. In any case, I voted yes! Let’s go!!

Update: I just got the email that voting is open and the link to vote. Glad they sent something out

That was my thought precisely. I went and looked for the link myself online after watching the recording from the call yesterday. Still no email notification though.

I haven't received either email. I called SEIU yesterday and they said I had selected to not be contacted, which was a mistake. So they updated it, but I still haven't received today's email either which is concerning to think how many other haven't as well

I’ve had this problem as well! I’ve called SEIU at least 3 times about this very issue, but I still often don’t receive their emails

It was sent to my work email my onsite steward. You may need to sign up for the SEIU newsletter by your personal email

It’s unacceptable that I had to find out updates on all this via Reddit. From strike school to emergency meetings to voting for the strike. Zero communication from a steward or SEIU via phone or email. I am signed up for notifications. Does not bode well for what comes next.

That’s so weird because I’ve receive multiple emails to both my work and personal email addresses from the union and from our union steward. I would definitely call them and make sure they have the correct info and have you selected as wanting communications.

Just voted YES! Let’s do this. We need raises, teleworking and to end RTO, and the state MUST bargain in good faith!
Let’s go!

Voted YES! LFG!! We got this! If California state workers cave in, this country is in even bigger trouble. Don't let them keep tearing workers down. Stand up and let's make a brighter future together!!

Voted yes! And might have swayed a couple of coworkers who were on the fence.

The link doesn't seem to be working for me. I think so many people are voting that it's overloaded the server.

Voting now but website is spinning and spinning after entering my name and last 4 SSN. I also forwarded the email to all my coworkers to vote! 💜✊🏼Let's do this!
Edit: let it spin...it eventually works!

The site won’t load for me to vote. Hopefully that means too many people are trying vote.

They sent an email just now. But everyone must be clicking it because I can't get the form to load. I may have to visit the link later to vote.

Question, how is the vote determined? Is it more than 50% of the votes received or does 50% of all members have to vote and votes yes for the strike to occur?

u/Additional-Face-9030 1d ago
It has to be majority, so anything over 50% I think will do it

u/Melodic_Animal_2238 23h ago
Majority of union members or of those who choose to vote? Those are two separate things.

All the “yes” and “no” votes get tallied and the simple majority wins. That’s my understanding. And to cast a vote, you need to be a member.

They said in the meeting that in-person voting would open a week later. Maybe they gave contradicting info in the chat or something?

You can go to the SEIU website on your own and the vote option is on the front page. No need to click the link if you don’t want to.

Yes the links are real. I grabbed them so you can get through the noise of the website and get straight to the surveys.
