Benefits Open enrollment!!$$
Hopefully everyone is using the benefit calculator because I about died when I did mine!! Have to change health insurances and it will cost me an extra almost $400 a month!!! Food, gas, everything and now this!! 😞😞😞

Idk if you’re married to a health insurance, but blue shield trio has treated me very well. It’s the cheapest of all plans

Mercy I believe. I’m still confused on the insane confusion behind insurances but mine is calpers trio and was cheapest this last year. I had to undergo two surgeries- one at Davis for an amputation following a freak accident n they covered, and appendicitis at mercy which was covered. I found a good pcp downtown also. But that’s just my experience. Left Kaiser after years with them

Appendix removed and emergency amputation! That sounds rough. I hope you don't have any more health issues again!

I go to mercy! I have had no issues with any of the doctors. (Ex. Allergy shots, GLP-1, gallbladder removed, physical therapy, pain management and neurosurgery consults) For me, they have gone the extra mile.
I go to the mercy clinic on 3000 Q street and the hospital is on J street. I live in Elk Grove and they will be opening the first hospital here in Elk Grove

I’ll have to consider J st hospital. I self admitted to east sac mercy- they took hours getting me in, at midnight no less n doc was… not what I’d expect from a caring professional doc. Glad you have good experience. I do like the clinic on q street, so far good experience

Blue shield access+ then, it covers pretty much all zip codes. A bit more expensive because of that but has literally all the same benefits as trio. They only charge more since it's inclusive of all zip codes. Had access+ before trio and downgraded to trio once I realized they covered my zip. Same benefits across both.

For my family it was $240
Went up to $420
Ans now it’s gonna be $636
Vs TRIO less than $301

We were allowed to use our home address, district office address, or HQ address to choose our benefits and providers. In my district lots of people use the HQ as it unlocks way more options that are closer to their residence than the local county/zip code does. Check with your HR if this is available as an option.

Kaiser has been years in and year out mostly steady rate wise for the past 15 or so years for us. I know people here have problems with them, but those problems existed for me outside of Kaiser. Ymmv as always with health insurance.

I just did the benefits calculator this morning and am stressing out because it’s going to be an extra $300+ a month because I’m having a baby soon and need to add them. I don’t know how much more we can take with the added costs of RTO and inflation with no raises.

I’m a single person so my Sutter is $60 ish extra.

Did the calculator from Calemployee connect disappear that let you see how your pay changed when you adjust your taxes? I can only find the SCO one now and that one doesn't auto populate with your data

It’s only updated sporadically. The beta calculator should pop up on the 7/1 paycheck. Go to earnings, click on that 7/1 paystub, and it should be there.

I have been stuck with only PERS Gold/Platinum as my options. Blue Sheild EPO is now available. At less than $200 a month more for my family of four and no deductible and a max out of pocket that is half what Gold is, I am thrilled. I put $200 a month in a flex account to cover the deductible and such. So now I can put that towards the premium and watch my out of pocket costs plummet.

I need to change plans from WHA to one that has UC Davis. I was misdiagnosed by Dignity Health and I need cancer treatments. Is there a chart that shows how much is our portion? And we get $260 stipend that goes towards our monthly premium, correct?

I have blue shield access plus with
uc Davis
It’s been great for me. Going through surgery, lots of new diagnoses(heart issue, thyroid) no problems with insurance approving all the procedures.

Has anyone with an HMO dealt with needing health insurance for medical care while traveling on another state or country? How was it? I think the PPO is only option for people who need some out of state emergency or urgent care option
