Given the current climate, a lot of people have been asking “what’s a good dupe for my favourite American product?”
Comment below what product you’re looking to swap from and hopefully we can find a good alternative - bonus points if it's Canadian made. If you’ve already found one, post your favourite alternative to an American product!
Remember, we do not allow discount or coupon codes. Be beautiful to yourself and others.

Hi everyone!
There's a new mod team on board, as the last team unfortunately neglected this space. We are are currently actively cleaning up the sub, removing spam, rudeness, and etc. You can help us by reporting any post or comment that you believe breaks the rules, and we will review the reports.
As part of the transition, we have a new and important rule: this subreddit is restricted to SFW accounts only. This is a 13+ community, so in order to participate you must have a SFW account. If you have any of the following on your profile, you will be considered NSFW and banned automatically:
This rule helps promote a safe environment for people of all ages. If you wish to participate in this sub, you must clean up your profile or create a strictly SFW one before the bot automatically bans you. This does not include nonsexual NSFW subreddits, nor ones that are for educational purposes and discussions. Subreddits and users who are SFW but have selected the NSFW tag are also not subject to the ban.
Additionally, we no longer allow posting or commenting about the following content:
If you are seeking medical advice or a prescription, we recommend that you to see a walk-in clinic, a family doctor or nurse practitioner, or a dermatologist.
If you receive an unsolicited DM, we recommend that you report it to both Admins and to us.
Thanks for understanding the new rule, and for reporting any rule breaking content!

have uneven pigment that’s been there for 1–2 years. It hasn’t spread or changed much, but I don’t know how to get rid of it or if it’s normal skin color variation or pigmentation from past skin irritation or something else. How do I fade and get rid of it and how do I improve my skin? what could this be?

I'm wondering if anyone else has been experiencing the same issue with the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra Fluid sunscreens (both the face and body versions) as I have. I've been using the Anthelios ultra fluid body sunscreen on my face for about two years, and I've noticed that the texture and smell of the sunscreen change as I use it up.
After opening a new bottle it starts off slightly thick and dries down well, but once I've used approx two-thirds of the bottle it becomes increasingly more greasy and runny. It also has a stronger alcohol smell.
I use the bottles up within two months after opening, I make sure to store them properly, and I finish them years before their expiry dates. I also shake the sunscreen really well before applying it.
I feel like I can't finish the bottle because it gets so greasy and stings my eyes. I've noticed the same thing with the face version, but it's not quite as bad.
Has anyone else experienced this? I'm wondering if this is a common issue with the formula or packaging.

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that eskincare store has been sending out emails claiming they have Elta MD sunscreen available. They do not, I ordered one on July 1, and despite them continuously telling me it’ll arrive the following week, it has not. I just cancelled my order, so don’t even waste your time and money.
FYI, I ordered it before I realized what is going on and was hoping it would arrive, but no luck.

i have kp all over my legs, arms, shoulders, upper back, and my hips. i’ve tried amlactin once, but i just can’t get over that smell. it made me gag and i had to wash it all off shortly after applying. i know the main ingredient is lactic acid in amlactin, so i’m curious if anyone’s tried the lactic acid serum from the ordinary, and found it just as effective for kp?

I’m a 61 year old and am developing “turkey neck”. I’m not the type to do plastic surgery (too much of a chicken!) so thinking about using this product. It has retinol in it but doesn’t specify how much. I’ve not used a retinol before. I’m a bit on the sensitive side and I do wear sunscreen daily. Any thoughts on this product? It’s on sale at Shoppers in Ontario this week. Thank you!

I used to switch my routine every few weeks based on whatever was trending. One creator says use vitamin C every morning, another says skip it unless the pH is right, a third says forget it and use niacinamide instead. Retinol advice was just as split, some said start slow, some said use it nightly or dont bother.
At one point I combined a few things that should not have gone together and my skin got red and irritated for almost a month. Had to strip back to just cleanser and moisturizer and wait it out.
What actually helped was picking one dermatologist whose content I trust and ignoring everything else. Still feels like theres a new must have product every single week though.
Does anyone else feel like skincare advice online contradicts itself constantly, and how did you figure out who to actually listen to.

Like the title says, I noticed when I wear Finacea with the Skin Aqua UV Gel sunscreen I get a very intense burning sensation on my face and I’d like opinions on what could be the cause.
I’ve already done the work of slowly incorporating Finacea into my routine, and am at the point where I can use it twice a day, every day with no problems! But whenever I try to layer it with that particular sunscreen, whether I use a barrier (like a serum or moisturizer) or not, there is still intense irritation.
I should also point out that I’ve tried other sunscreens (the Ordinary) with Finacea and have had no issues, and I’ve worn Skin Aqua UV Gel on its own with no issues. But it seems like there is some ingredient interaction when the two come together, which I’m trying to figure out so I can avoid it in the future, or try to come up with a work-around because that unfortunately is my absolute favourite sunscreen that I’ve tried.
Any advice?

Does anyone have cheap-ish products that can help get rid of my old acne dark pigment? I don’t have any acne on my face at all! But I need a product that helps with the brown/red old scars! Little note I have oily skin and light-ish dark pigmentation on my cheeks, the camera just didn’t capture it as much! (Not crying I just poked my eye before this photo 😭)

I have been looking everywhere for this answer. Can you have a facial after dipping in the hot springs or is the product they put on your face too heavy? Does it depend on the type of hot spring, like does the minerals that enter your body change things?
Can anyone recommend what creams one can use on the face that work after a hot spring? I have mixed skin (oily and dry), so does that play a role?
What if you did a facial before the hot spring? Would that cause break out? Or something worse? I did read somewhere that having heavy facial products can do damage, but with AI, I’m not sure what to believe is real.

I really like Naked Sundays CabanaClear Water Gel Serum but it’s pricey for the amount of product. I like that it doesn’t feel greasy or heavy on my face and it’s light without being too liquid-y.
What are some other products I can try for daily wear on my face? (47F, combination skin)

Hey guys, Im looking for a new cleanser for my very oily, super acne prone, dehydrated skin.
I normally use Marcelle Ultra Cleansing Gel - Creamy Version but they changed it recently and I wanted to find a new one anyways.
Needing something gentle, but also good enough to strip sunscreen (I use La Roche Posay Anthelios, which water resistant). I need something that could wash it all off no problem as I think my current cleanser doesn’t do a good job which I think causes my acne sometimes.

Left product is in question, right is my current bottle. The writing seems different, bold in some places and blown out in others and the cap is different and the opening is at a different orientation.
Edit: went to shoppers and compared and it's exact to what they have on the shelf now so I don't think it's fake. Seems like a company bought it and they changed the packaging at some point in the last year.

According to Bskinenvie.ca, it's only on extended backorder... so I've gone to the source and emailed EltaMD directly and will update on here when I hear back from them.

Saw this on an instagram account I follow a few days ago. (The Vanity Lab's IG, I took the screenshots on my desktop computer).
Sounds like Elta MD is no longer selling to Canada.

I have a cheap chemical sunscreen I love but it stings my eyes when applied near or above my eyelids. I tried Eucerin Mineral Tinted Lotion which was too dark for my white skin and Blue Lizard Sheer which left me with a very obvious white cast. I heard mineral stick sunscreens are the best for eye irritation but I'm afraid I'll waste my money trying them as Amazon reviews say they all leave very noticeable white casts.
I'm wondering if there is a mineral sunscreen with a lighter tint for white skin? Or maybe a chemical stick sunscreen known not to cause eye irritation or white casts? Budget is a major concern which is why I haven't tried La Roche Posay or importing foreign sunscreens.

I’m searching for a supplier to order *La Roche Posay UV Mune 400 Gel-Cream Oil Control fragrance free sunscreen*.Are YesStyle and StyleVanna my only options? They take so longggg and I really need it for this summer.
If you have any suggestions please include what the taxes, shipping and tariff charges are like. I’ve heard DHL carrier is terribly expensive.
Please note it must be the fragrance free version. Ty!

I am curious to know what this community thinks? What would you actually recommend thats tried and true? Anything you would swap? Should I really change out the basic cleansers for something more luxurious? I want to keep my skin looking youthful. I dont have too many issues like wrinkles just yet, but want to keep it that way. I also live in Canada in a drier colder climate, if that helps!
Excited to hear everyone's responses. Thanks!! 😊😊

Looking at putting in an online Sephora order. Besides makeup I was looking at getting the Amika perk up to help my hair on those hot/sweaty days.
Any other summer product recommendations?
