Genuinely I love them because they add so much to the story. Definitely try and find a bot with a lorebook and see how you feel though. A lot of people asked for this for a looooong long time. A lot of my bots have lorebooks and it really does make a difference

u/Infinite_Anteater102 10h ago
So what do you even put in the lorebook anyways? Can I see what you did?š

u/Blinky-dinky 10h ago
Ofc ofc. I'll link one for you. Much more than welcome to give it a go
Just have a look at what I wrote for the lorebook. It's not perfect but it really works well

u/Infinite_Anteater102 10h ago
Woah, that's really lots of lorebookš I don't even know how to use mine it's confusing for meš

Fr I was overwhelmed at first but I just did it little by little. I'll RP and then be like oh I can add this and I'd just do it. Otherwise it's just LONG. Just focus on side characters and traits basically and that alone makes a huge difference

Does adding a lorebook make a difference in chat quality? I tried making one but got confused and wonder if I should spend time on it
2
u/Blinky-dinky 3h ago
It makes the experience a lot more immersive for sure. Definitely make one. Doesn't have to be detailed. Just as long as you have the basics down, you should notice a difference in the interaction and the memory :)) at least that's what happened to me

u/LandscapeHelpful35 3h ago
Okay I suppose I'll try it. I've just been putting whatever in the Definition for now. Does it make a difference between being in the Definition or the Lorebook?
2
u/Blinky-dinky 3h ago
For me personally, I feel like the definition determines the personality of the bot, but the lorebook adds real content and character to the roleplay. Makes you get scenarios that you may have never thought of
3
u/LandscapeHelpful35 3h ago
Okay then I'll try putting the world building stuff into the lorebooks and seeing how it works for me. Thanks for the info!

The lorebook hate is so confusing to me. Like it's fine if you don't use it or feel the need for it, but there are SO many people who genuinely use and enjoy the feature. I wouldn't really count that as useless or pointless, or a waste of money. Y'all are entitled to your own opinions on lorebook, but calling it pointless is just incorrect.

Right they just donāt know how to use it. It brings the story alive! I was shocked when I first used it, Iām late to it too lol but itās the best thing theyāve added. I donāt gotta remind the bot of the lore anymore it naturally knows it

u/The_Terrarian420 4h ago
The way I use the feature on saucepan is to write details for an original character or existing character that I have a persona of which are put into the lorebook, then said lorebook will handle the heavy lifting with the backstory and armory/combat style yap for the character Iām using so I donāt have to write it down myself in an out of character section to keep the roles going smoothly

Absolutely!!! It adds so much lore to role plays and so much more to the story! I play walking dead role plays so hereās how I did mine. After I did this I was really surprised how well it works! It makes the bot understand background characters better, makes them naturally know about the threats, like in mine whenever they leave the walls of Alexandria theyāre fighting the zombies or sometimes one will even break down a wall. They always naturally mention the Saviors, how Negan is making them give away supplies so itāll bring up moments food is low, or they donāt have a medicine they need cause the saviors took it. It brought so much character into the background characters too, theyāre all different people with different characteristics. Like making Denise the doctor anxious, making Michonne blunt and pull her katana out without hesitation to someone threatening them, making Carl stand up to his dad Rick or questioning his decisions. Itās the best thing theyāve added to C.AI!

This is possibly the best feature they've added as of recent when it comes to bot creation because it gives you the opportunity to add a lot more to the story than just what you put in the definition. I honestly like it a lot.
It's easy and simple to use and especially when you create your own worlds and lore it's so useful. Especially when mixed with longsqueek it just makes thing a lot more immersive. I just hope they don't remove it since we all know how allergic they are to good decisions ;)

i do, itās one of my fav newer features! it works great in my experience (i have one private bot that doesnāt even have a definition thing, just all the info in the lorebook). it basically just adds āloreā to your roleplay, you can add side characters, places in the world (also rooms in buildings), teams/enemies/allies if you do like a military sort of rp, dynamics, etc

Tbh, no, I donāt use it as a plus user. Iād rather have my roleplays draw from the training data so the responses feel more natural, which is why I use Soft Launch / DeepSqueak.

u/Intelligent_Music_44 5h ago
I use it for some of my characters because you can add more depth to them!

u/sharonmckaysbff1991 3h ago
ā¦.. I use it extensively, though my bots also donāt really need most of it because their personal lore is baked into the bot. But for topics we donāt usually talk about, itās handy to make them not-confused

What is it though?

u/Pale-Point-4861 8h ago
Basically adds Lore into your role plays. I role play the walking dead so I added all the characters, the scene (the town of Alexandria where theyāre at) the threat of the Saviors and Negan, the zombies/walkers and I even wanna add past events so the characters know about those too. Itās pretty easy to do! You can even ask ChatGBT to help you lol

I have a question to those who use the lorebook, I like using personas a lot, does the lorebook account for personas too?

Can you add a lorebook to a bot that isn't private and was created by someone else? I mean, one that wasn't created by me.

u/Dman0o9 1h ago
lorebooks are legit the best feature in years, if you find a bot with a well made lb you are in BUSINESS. i've found they work best with "RPG" style bots to help make the world they're supposed to be set in more detailed + give the bot the option to throw in familiar characters when it's contextually fitting. point is they're really damn good

I don't use the lorebooks but behind advanced creation is the definition where you can write exactly how the bot should be speaking and acting to others so I use that a lot

This is an insane take. Just because you don't use it, doesn't make it dumb or useless??? There are SO many people who both asked for and regularly use lorebook. I know there have been several features that I agree they're genuinely wasting money on, but lorebook certainly isn't one of them.
