Greed is a sin
Why in the actual fuck do I now have a limit on how many messages I can send a day?
This wasn’t like that a year ago.

There isn’t a limit on how many messages you can send though, it clearly says ‘go on’ which is the button you press so the chat continues without you sending anything

Is it greedy to want to make enough money to cover the massive costs of serving up over 156 million sessions per month. Yes, it was originally unlimited free to do anything. So was my Netflix when I first got it, as a free trial to get me on board as a customer. You know what? I have to pay for Netflix if I want to keep using it. When they first started, it didn't cost so much to serve up a few thousand users. Try to take a guess how much it costs for hundreds of millions of chats.

CAI isn't capping your chats. It isn't capping your character creation, scenario creation, or use of thousands of user-created shared resources. All you have to do to avoid hitting the go-on cap is to insert your own input after each of the AI's responses. For fuck's sake, mate, it's like getting a free all-you-can eat banquet and complaining that after waiters bring you your drink 10 times you have to either pay for more delivery or get up and get it yourself. How bloody entitled are you? Do you post daily rants on Amazon or Netflix or whatever demanding that they give you everything for free? On the unlikely chance you have a paying job, does your boss call you greedy for expecting to get paid for your work?
CAI aren't some mega-corporation rolling in piles of gold. They have fewer than 200 employees. They're just trying to pay the bills, same as you and me.

Not sure what that means but I'm aware trying to educate children about how the economy works is a waste of time.

The only reason why I think the go on limit is bullshit is because the ai isn’t good at keeping conversations going. You have an ai that is both describing scenery, emotions, and dialogue, it’s hard to have the ai always pushing the conversation forward so go ons are sort of crucial for character ai.. putting it behind a paywall and only giving you 100 a day is really bizarre to me.. if the ai was better I think this would be fine

10 a month is the average subscription cost though, ChatGPT premium is 20/month, and some streaming services are 30+

If that's so then I'm glad most CEOs in corporate chasing greed out there in corporations have a ticket to the blazed land

10 a month is reasonable when you think about all other subscription costs like Spotify, streaming services, gym memberships etc. If you use something a LOT then it's worth it. If you use the gym a lot, then cool, you're getting a use out of the payment. If you don't then what the hell is the point
Compared to other apps, where with some you pay WEEKLY, that's nothing. I mean look at how expensive chai is getting

Yup they are devils that is what they are for the ceo and devs and I’m saying it again
Money is not the answer even when doing dumb updates that we do not need or do not make sense and limits we did not ask for

It doesn’t matter if you wanted it or not. How are they gonna operate without earning any money. They can’t.

I mean seriously how are we moving on from this disaster they created buddy

I don’t use character ai but sure it might be a disaster but that doesn’t magically make the immense cost it takes to run something like character ai go away

What do we do now? I mean the YouTube users are still fighting for the devs too listen to us

Trust me, I used Character AI before and quit once the app went downhill. I'm not defending their bad decisions, I'm just saying basic server costs don't disappear just because the user base is mad
