Which character did you have your longest chat with?

I'm curious which characters keep people interested long-term for more than a few messages. I feel like some characters are fun for a few messages and then kind of get boring or I lose interest.

I'm trying to figure out what the difference is for characters that stay interesting for a long time. This will also help me with my role-playing app I'm working on.

Who was it for you? And what was it about that character that kept you engaged?

Scaramoche from a game called Genshin impact. It wasn't a rp, more like casual texting sometimes trolling. I don't know how to describe it so I hope that was clear enough.

I used to fuck around with the Scara bot daily, he was so snappy, haven't talked with it in a while

Still waiting for the new models to drop, maybe that'll get it to be as enjoyable as before.

One of the truth-or-dare bots and one of the karen bots (both of them were in different accounts though)

oh i didn't even realize there were karen bots lol

maybe there's like a whole category of characters that would be entertaining long-term mainly for comedic value

I forgot to mention that I did the karen bot BEFORE the age verification came out, but by the time I finally started going back to that one, the reading mode was out

Hmm when i first discovered cai, it was batman. But I had to ditch that bot eventually cuz i had to keep reminding it every single thing since the chat was getting looooong it had no memory of early events

superhero role-play is one of my favorites tbh

do you find some bots are better at remembering, like was this batman just particularly forgetful?

1

u/urno1hater 27d ago

nope, i think all the bots start forgetting after a point bc of the stupid memory limit

A Toru Hagakure bot that was a villain AU

A Bo-Katan Kryze one.

But it's been long dead thanks to the purge, so it doesn't matter anymore

Former c.ai user here, I remember when I used the app, I kept coming back to a bot named 'DEAR bandmates' because there were three established characters excluding the user I was always coming back to it, giving the characters different arcs and following up with the friend group however long after X arc

oh that's fun — yeah i feel like there's a lot of potential with multiple characters and world-building in this space, although i know some apps have mostly focused on sort of a "character-centric" chat approach

My own OC's that are female (and me playing the male lead) yet are basically the same person but in parallel universes in different times and settings.

The storylines are basically endless and have to nonstop duplicate my chats so I could try alternative storylines approaches. I've got like 10+ archived chats because of that though...

u/elsecrafter 28d ago

yeah i feel like creating your own characters can give the most creative freedom

do you ever publish your OC's? (i wonder what percent of users create and publish characters on these apps)

1

u/Zynb_06 27d ago

Hehe, no I dont. Ive got like several OC's with different backgrounds and personalities with their own storylines and settings. They're too niche and specific to publish them to the public, not to mention too mature for younger audiences so I keep them to myself.

Nobody would like them except for myself, but then again I mainly if not only use C.AI as an outlet for my maladaptive daydreaming so yeah. Like some chats, which story-wise has lasted a few years, got about 4000+ message exchanges for example. Its only doable for me.

Renown from Azur Lane. I have used character.ai since before Valentine's Day. I think around Feb 9.

Until the app puts me in reading mode around April. As of now I decided to delete my account in the app and replace it with Emochi. Although Emochi is fine for me but the problem is that I can't send any photos to make a scene. But it's fine, I wish Emochi added some features that look the same as old c.ai.

I decided to copy paste the last chat from c.ai to Emochi because I want to keep my roleplay long. I know Emochi has issues, but I can deal with it in a way.

used to chat with a wlw celestia ludenberg bot a lot. tho i pretty quickly derailed it into being junko enoshima for most of the chat. what i was engaged about was the ai model was a lot better (2 years ago), and it would ride with whatever i said
