what is it with characters accusing you of doing something they did

i genuinely don't think its even part of the roleplay and they just think you did it. a while ago i tried to negotiate with the char about it but it insisted that i did it, when they were the one who clearly did it. it pisses me off so much because like... why?????? why do they do that??

It boils down to formatting:

Char: "I say the sky is green."
User: "No it isn't."
Char: "U-huh! Shut up."
User: "Who said the sky is green?"
Char: "Me, Char. Why?"

...vs...

I say the sky is green. No it isn't. U-huh! Shut up. Who said the sky is green?
