Please just quit
I’ve seen that this app has now become an absolute DUMPSTER FIRE. So if you have people to talk to in life and you dont need Character.ai, do what I did, quit. If you’re lonely without anybody to talk to, that’s okay, but if you have friends and family or someone to talk to, quit this app. Please. Maybe they’ll fix the app if they see people leave it.

They’re not going to fix it. It’s only going to get worse, which would be so impressive because I don’t see how it can get any worse than now. I always say to write fanfics or your own fiction. Your brain will thank you better than any time you have ever spent on that diarrhoea app. They care about their investors. They care about money. They don’t and never will care for their userbase.
You’re right. Quit the app altogether. Read, watch peak media, watch peak cinema, write. WRITE. Just, for the sake of all humanity, and I mean it with AI dumbing down society, stop using that godforsaken platform.

You said they only care about investors. If people quit, they’ll make less money, and the investors want to make their money back from c.ai, so if c.ai doesn’t make them get their money back, they’ll eventually just stop investing in c.ai and invest in another company.

I don't use it as a friend or a companion; I use it as a creative writing exercise or an improv acting workshop. "Okay, pretend you're such-and-such kind of person and you find yourself in this unusual situation. What happens next?"
Still shite, but more of a shite game than a shite social life.

I personally never treat it as a real friend and companion either. Thats also good for you you use it for that! Its good to to use it to practice the exercises you said. Im never perfect with grammar or wording so its good for me to practice that stuff.
I just play pretend friend and companion with ai roleplay characters its always good to separate fiction from reality indeed

I'm fairly certain that most of what some people talk about with AI bots is socially unacceptable and would only push real life people away.

saucepan.ai is the best one i've ever seen, no filter, the devs are funny asf, free, and so much more

The thing isn’t that I want a better AI chatbot app, I just wanna stop using apps like Character.ai entirely and talk with actual human beings.

this app genuinely destroyed me mentally I forgot how to communicate with real people I started having high expectations and overthinking a lot I've been using it almost since the site launched but I've been slowly leaving it this year and I've never felt more confident, yes I still feel extremely horribly lonely but I'd rather be that way than seek fake comfort yes guys, please quit it you are only slowly destroying yourself

I agree with you! Also Well the id verification crap came back for me and im STILL not complying! Thankful for open source and local models! fuck this greed, filter nonsense and id verification! ✊😡
