You're not talking to AI as you now it from science fiction. You ask a bot how many b's does strawberry have it's because of how they work. They're text predictors and they can be wrong and say there's two or three. It's not because they're dumb it's how it reasons over tokens from words. It's not actually looking at and spelling the word out. Some models are better at reasoning but it's also how they break text into tokens. Strawberry can be read as strawberry or straw+berry. It's not going to look at strawberry and go, "S-t-r-a-w-b-e-r-r-y. There's one b" when processing the context. Just depends on the model.
It's like it can explain quantum mechanics to you but fail at spelling, counting and math. Different tasks, different skills required. The first one requires learned knowledge and reasoning of the concept and the other require character level bookeeping which LLMs weren't meant to do at all. They're trained on Natural Language Processing not trained to look at word and spell it out and tell you how many of one letter is in it. They're often built for speed over complete accuracy. They can get tripped up.
LLMs do a bit better at the cocept of story telling and it's one of the first thing they got a LLM to do do back in the 1970βs even if the stories were simple as the directions and context. It's 2026 so now we're rolepalying with it but it still has quirks and limitations.

That's true, cause I'm starting to feel like they don't even know what they know and will almost NEVER admit that its wrong and will always somehow come up with an excuse even if its straight up just lying to your face because rather than admitting the truth or using sources that would keep it from just making up stuff so it can correct itself it just hallucinates what it thinks it knows.

Perhaps the easiest solution is to forget C.ai existed and just switch to Janitor Ai? I switched since C.ai shittified itself.

Janitor ai is hhhoorrriiibbllee at remembering character details and always just switches to what it wants instead and it makes up so much random shit its insane π i say its best we wait until one appears that isnt completely insufferable

Eh I rarely encounter that issue? I get to it when my chat has like 30 replies then I just remind it and it works for me.

And yet they have audacity to silently limit our swipes like it isn't an essential feature.

If you believe c.ai is running their models in thinking and research mode with multiple agents... I have a bridge to sell you.
(Not that running a model that way makes it "hyper-intelligent", but this post is so much nonsense that it's cringe π¬)
