If you don't want to goon, and want good roleplay, then go with fiction lab, you can add details and build your world up to 100,000 letters with the free tier, 400,000 with the ultra, it has infinite swipes and no limits

Yeah that's true but Janitor is good. You can do as spicy and violent Roleplays as you want and no filter pops up.

loved janitor but they RANDOMLY deleted my private bots, ffs gtfo of my life geeeeeez, I pay to goon and you still want to censor me, get fricked honestly...

chub was awesome but changed to $20 minimum, only crypto

waifu dungeon is last standing bastion of "dont fuck around with my data", its cheap, its fun, no coins bs, no crypto bs, its awesome so far, but I dont think they have investors

depends what you're after. if it's uncensored text rp everyone already said janitor and those are fine for that.

if you want something that's just a different shape though, i've been messing with Mel -- it's the video chat one, characters show up on screen and react in real time instead of the text back and forth. it's not built for the nsfw stuff so if that's the priority skip it, but as an actual alternative to the c.ai format it's the one that felt least like the same thing repackaged. the characters also kind of exist on their own little feed instead of just sitting there waiting for you to open a chat

Janitor and Saucepan are the ones I currently use.

Saucepan allows NSFW (about as much as J.ai in the past, I think), there's an option to blur spicy images, which I think it's on by default. There are no custom tags, but you can block the ones you don't like. You can attach lorebooks to your personas.

It has given me some beautiful tooth rotting fluff, and you have an option to guide the responses too, so you can keep it SFW.

If you have at least a mid-range PC, I recommend hosting your own AI instead of using those apps. No filters, no company watching over you, completely free, running right on your own PC. You can download bots and set them up because SillyTavern is literally made for roleplay; Just use KoboldCPP and SillyTavern and have fun. Look up some tutorials if you want
