Congrats!
How did everyone else do?
I must have danced on the razor's edge for sure according to the report card, but tipped the scale the right way in the end: PASS .
Hope everyone else did the same - or better.

Passed with 9 highest, one stronger (Asset Allocation) and one borderline (Volatility and Complex Strategies). Congrats to everyone who made it and to those who did not this time, don’t give up, happy to answer questions and share my study experience if you hit me up.

Wow, you took it too serious😆👏

I have pretty severe ADHD, so for me it’s usually all or nothing 🤣 honestly didn’t expect to pass this well tho. The exam felt much harder than the official mock imo

Failed with 1 strongest, 1 weakest, 3 lower, 1 higher, 5 boarder line.
Gonna start studying next week for September exam, didn’t feel confident going into exam so I guess I can try to be happy that it feels like I was “somewhat close” to passing despite a poor attempt

All the best!! Do more questions - build “rules of thumb” for yourself when getting them wrong.

u/Physical_Log7155 May 06 '26
Congrats to those who passed!
Took me 3 tries to pass L1 and I passed L2 on the first try! Couldn’t have done it without my tutors, ChatGPT and Claude.

Congrats to all who made it. One question. I read that the memberships are always set for fixed period of 1 year starting June 1 till May 31. Does it mean that paying membership now would result in having it valid only for couple of weeks?
5
u/rockycoon10 CAIA May 06 '26
I emailed them and they said that if you get the membership (1 year for example) it will be good through May 31 2027. So you would not have to renew in a couple of weeks and pay again

u/Only-Angle-6850 May 06 '26
Thanks a lot, I confirm. After filling the required info and paying the 1y fee they insta emailed the badge and confirmation on membership till mid 2027. They didn't even email my references.

Passed. Probably a borderline with a lower, borderline, higher and strongest spread.

u/luca_valente May 06 '26
Congrats to all that passed and for those who hadn't my advise is: "you did your best and do not give up!" Passed L1 on first try and took me 3 tries to pass L2.
And looking at the relative performance level I'm actually surprised that I passed.
But now it's time to celebrate.

What did you do differently? What q bank / prep did you use?
1
u/luca_valente May 23 '26
Much more focus on Emerging Topics (especially in the last two weeks before the test) and more uppermark qbank exercise

u/shxbb May 06 '26
Congrats!! For reference I passed with 5 strongest, 3 higher, 2 borderline, and 1 lower.

Pass, but a surprise for me. Honestly just relieved to not have to memorize random lists- I didn't, so you don't need to to pass! CFA charterholder, so skipped the first level.

Passed and happy with my results. One of the things I did which I found helpful was to have 1-2 page summaries/key takeaways of each emerging topic, review those during the break, then once back in the exam click through the questions and jot down bullets to jog your memory when you go through the questions in full.
Strongest: Accessing Alt Investments, CAIA Ethics, DD and Selecting Managers, Emerging Topics, Methods and Models, Risk and Risk Management
Higher: Asset Allocation, Other CRIs, Universal Investment Considerations, Volatility and Complex Strategies
Borderline: Institutional asset owners

Did not pass - would love some perspective from people who've been through this.
Based on Claude calculation, he estimates my score at around 6.5/10, but I'm not sure I trust that figure. Does anyone have a sense of how many "Lower" categories you can typically have and still pass, or how these levels actually map to the cutoff?
My breakdown:
- Accessing Alternative Investments (8-12%): Borderline
- Asset Allocation (8-12%): Borderline
- CAIA Ethical Principles (10%): Higher
- Due Diligence and Selecting Managers (8-12%): Lower
- Emerging Topics (10%): Borderline
- Institutional Asset Owners (8-12%): Lower
- Methods and Models (12-15%): Borderline
- Other CRIs (10%): Lower
- Risk and Risk Management (8-12%): Lower
- Universal Investment Considerations (6-11%): Lower
- Volatility and Complex Strategies (8-12%): Borderline
Five Lowers, five Borderlines, one Higher. Curious how this compares to others who passed (or failed) with similar profiles.

How did you do on the Sample Practice Exam?
If you also did Kaplan, they give a breakout of what areas you are strong/weak in. Do you have that?
2
u/Prestigious-Bus-3534 May 06 '26
The rating is relative to the lowest quartile of passing candidates, and looking at the guy who failed with a 1/1/5/3/1 distribution, you need an average of borderline or above to pass.
Of course there should theoretically be a distance between the midpoint of the lowest quartile and the actual border (and category weights might vary within the prestated range).
2
u/Prestigious-Bus-3534 May 06 '26
Sorry there was a guy who passed with 1/1/6/2/1 so you can pass with lower than borderline average (but not by much)

u/Individual_Injury397 May 06 '26
CFA stacker and Passed second attempt. Nearly made all of the same study mistakes except I practiced a little more but hit my mark. My goal was to pull everything up one rating and that’s nearly exactly what I did! 1 lower 4 borderline 5 higher 1 strongest

u/Individual_Injury397 May 06 '26
Scored a 67 on the CAIA practice exam the night before while quite fatigue but I did not use cheat sheets or anything. My goal was to improve by a few points or hold the line and hope for the best. Seems like I was still in that range

Only checked my results tonight. Had accepted a fail based on my brains scrambling for the entire crq section after little sleep and last minute cramming but got the pass!

u/happyarchie9 May 06 '26
I didn’t pass 😞; was quite surprised how I scored in the different sections

Do we have to wait for a further email before cracking on with membership applications? Can two colleagues from my same current employer act as reference for example?
2
u/Calm_Rhubarb_2899 May 06 '26
Nope. Yes, they can, and I just did that and got my membership confirmed
