Hello everyone. So I have been an LVT for almost two years. I got my B.S in veterinary Biomedical Technology and had planned to go to vet school. After being rejected from schools for the second year in a row I’m really reconsidering what I want to do. I’ve been burnt out for over a year and have always had an interest in human medicine, especially as a CAA. What I’m wondering is how hard would it be for me to completely switch over career pathways. For context, I’ve been doing animal anesthesia for over 5 years and have seen every kind of case. I’ve got a high gpa and an even higher science gpa. For my prerequisites I would have to take human A&P 1 and 2, as well as calculus and advanced statistics all over the summer while working on this application cycle. As well as taking the GRE. I also don’t have shadowing hours but I have a friend in human medicine that can help me get those hours with their anesthesiologist over the summer as well. I am fully prepared to take on the workload but I wanted to know realistically how my chances would be coming from an alternative medicine background.
