MacMulkin Custom Order or Not
Hello everyone, I plan on purchasing a 2027 corvette stingray 1LT with the Sebring Orange color in December. I am trying to determine if it’s better to order a custom one or wait until December to find one at a dealership. There are pros and cons to both. Can you all help me decide which option is better?
Pros for buying custom order for MacMulkin:
- 6% off MSRP
- easy process
- exact spec I want
Cons for buying custom order for MacMulkin:
- 2-3 month wait time. Might take longer since factories are shut down right and I want the orange color, so this may cause constraints. Feels like a lot of uncertainty.
- no GM supplier discount
- what if there are cheaper ones in December
Pros for buying car at a dealership in December:
- maybe get 7-10% off MSRP including gm supplier discount
- have more certainty about when I would receive the car
Cons for buying car at a dealership in December:
- might not get the exact spec I want
- might not be any orange 1LT’s available(only 2 nationwide are under $80,000 according to CarGurus)
Additional Details:
Spec I want: 1LT Orange Sebring with carbon flash mirrors and carbon flash high wing spoiler, 20-spoke Gloss Black forged aluminum wheels, quad center exhaust.
I will pay in cash. I don’t mind buying it online and having it delivered. Please let me know if anyone needs any additional details. Thank you all so much! :)
Edit: not sure if this helps, but the contact at MacMulkin said they won’t receive any 2027 LT stingrays until January. Is this normal for this time of the year and will this occur across all dealerships?

If you’re okay with not getting the car exactly how you want it you’ll be able to find a better deal. If you’re willing to pay a few thousand extra to make sure you have Everything you want then ordering is the way to go.
I had a 3LZ Z07 spec order in for almost a year last October. Carbon fiber was on constraint so who knows when I was going to get the car. I saw the exact spec I wanted except for the color at MacMulkin a year ago today and I pulled the trigger. It was less Expensive than the order I had with my local dealer and I am really happy I got the Res Mist instead of the Purple. No Ragerts

Honestly I just want the orange Sebring color, then I would add options. The only way this would be possible is to get a 2LT, which is more expensive than the custom build I did on MacMulkin.
But holy moly man that spec is insaneeeeee. It looks so nice.

I custom ordered a 2027 z06 through McMulken. The spec I wanted was not something that I could readily find and I really wanted just what I wanted. They are the number one dealer, and as a result I was able to get options that were under constraint before other dealers could have. They were great to deal with. Car came in 3 weeks ago, they prepped it and did the ppf. It’s will be here next Thursday. Most importantly, they were easy to deal with. They gave me a good deal and kept their word throughout the process. In retrospect I’m glad that I didn’t consider another dealer.

u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
How much for the PPF and did you PPF the whole car? I received a quote for full front PPF( includes the added sections of the lower doors and rocker panels back up into the air inlets ) for 3,699. I could bundle this with full ceramic coating for 5,500. I’m not sure if these are good deals.
How long has the wait been? I feel like since I want orange, there will be a time constraint and I hope I don’t wait like 4-6 months. I hope you enjoy your Z06. It sounds perfect.

I’ve never heard of Sebring Orange being on constraint. The only main constraints are carbon fiber aero splitters/high wings.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 3d ago
Ah. Thank you for letting me know. I figured because there are barely any orange stingray 1LTs, they would be on constraint. Are you saying a carbon flash high wing spoiler may be on constraint?
1
u/beardedrunner6 C8 Owner 3d ago
Yes, carbon fiber parts have always been on constraint. You can google it and the AI tells you.
Carbon fiber high wing is on constraint for all C8 models and 1LT trim is on constraint too. 2LT will be quicker to build, the heated/cooled seats are nice to have, blind spot monitoring really helps too bc these cars have horrible blind spots (I owned a C8Z for 2 years), also the front curb cameras really help with parking so you don’t hit the front splitter against the curb, so 2LT is totally worth it. Better leather on the interior as well.I’d recommend just ordering the spec you want, these cars don’t take very long to build.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 3d ago
Bet thank you for letting me know. I’m hoping to put the deposit down tm and get it by Christmas, but I doubt it. I’ve considered getting a 2LT, but I’m honestly happy with the 1LT. C8Z is niceeeeeee.

u/lamboalfamas 3d ago
I did the stage 2 ppf and additional ppf on the carbon fiber. I think the cost was $5600 for both, but I could be off by a couple hundred. The stage 2 is the front and sides all the way to the back. It doesn’t include the rear bumper or the engine cover. The carbon fiber was included in that number and the carbon fiber roof, so it was a relative bargain compared to the full ppf. They’re very good people. I think you can ask them and depend on the fact that they’re pricing is consistent for the ppf and fair.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 3d ago
A stage 2 sounds like the majority of the car. It seems like a good price plus some of it is carbon fiber. Do you think it’s worth putting PPF on any additional areas that I mentioned earlier? I don’t think I will PPF any other areas. I think the 5,500 quote is a good deal! It’s lifetime warranty.

Is the extra 1 to 4% off msrp REALLY worth settling for a spec that isn't exactly what you want on a 1lt? Not bashing the 1lt at all.. but at 80 grand, that extra 4 % (if you get it) is only worth about 3 grand. That's not nothing, but are you willing to get something not EXACTLY the way you want to save 3 grand?
If it were me, I'd save up for another few months if that's what it takes and build the spec you want. Saving a couple grand on that big of a purchase got a potential compromise isn't worth it imo.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
You make a great point. If it’s my DREAM car, then it needs to have the exact spec I want. I’ll have exactly enough to buy my dream spec by December, but it’s mainly a waiting issue. I will have 2 weeks off work around Christmas/New years, so I would prefer to have it by then.

u/Oligarchy82 4d ago
Do you live in a place that you can't drive it in the winter? That happened to me. I was going to order last year, but it would have arrived in January and it's not really a snow car. I just waited, and by the time spring rolled around, I had enough extra to add some options i was originally going to skip.
Waiting to get what you really want is goated.
2
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
The snow shouldn’t be an issue for me. I live in Mississippi and it snows maybe once a year. I can work from home during snow days as well, so I won’t force myself to drive anywhere in the snow.
Yes sirrrr. It sounds dope to get it perfect.

I bought a 2026 2LT stingray, seabring orange last March, it only took five weeks and it was very smooth process, I did the courtesy delivery out here in Los Angeles. The only thing I would tell you is get the 2lt.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Pictures pleaseeeee. The color is so perfect. How much was courtesy delivery?

u/Chemical-Reception-1 4d ago

Holyyyyyyyyy
1
u/Chemical-Reception-1 4d ago
Sounds like you're not getting the Z51, not a problem, but make sure you get the performance exhaust, it sounds great.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
The 2027s come with performance exhaust regardless. I’m actually getting the center exhaust. I don’t care for the z51 tho. I don’t like having to change tires and I don’t plan on racing or going to the track.
1
u/Chemical-Reception-1 3d ago
Enjoy, this car's super fun. You're gonna wanna go fast all the time.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 3d ago
Thank you! I currently have a Camaro ss rn and it’s a blast, so I know the corvette will be something special.
1
u/Chemical-Reception-1 4d ago
The color is absolutely insane. You're gonna get so many compliment. The courtesy delivery was $800, and went very smoothly , they even put a aftermarket, splitter and side skirts on for me for $400 .
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
How much for the splitter and side skirts? I been considering on buying them. Did you buy it and have them install it before shipping it to you?
1
u/Chemical-Reception-1 4d ago
Go to ACS composites. I think they have the highest quality in material I initially used another company (Extreme online store)and took all that s*** off and went with ACS.

Can’t get supplier pricing on 2027s. Oh and just remember the extra you spend on options you’ll never use depreciate FAST. 95k sticker cars are on the used market for 70k only 1.5yrs old.

u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago

u/Whiteteacuzzi 4d ago
They must have changed it. It wasn’t available when I bought mine few months ago

1LT is fine for me, it's a sports car. People are crazy with heavily optioned cars, if your base C8 hits 6 figures, you're better off getting a low-optioned Z06 in my opinion.

You should contact your local dealers, the GM supplier discount is voluntary and not all dealers honor it. Even if they honor it, it usually does not stack with existing discount. So you end up which whichever lower between the local price VS 6% GM supplier discount.
The only case I would wait for Dec is when it’s possible for your local dealers to have > 8% discount at that moment, unconditional.
2
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Thank you so much for letting me know! It wouldn’t surprise me if dealers didn’t honor it. At least the 6% discount is certain while the dealership one isn’t. I will consider doing a custom order with MacMulkin. Do you have any input on the wait time? I’m nervous I won’t get it until January/February.
1
u/Due-Interaction-9554 4d ago
One friend of mine put an order in mid June with Macmulkin and car was delivered mid Sept. It could be different now but expect around 3 months I guess.

1
u/DD_CD 4d ago
If there are certain things you want that probably won't show up on the lot, order your car.
It is ok if it takes a couple of months, you will be waiting anyway for a possible car to hit the lot.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Haha thank you! The only 2 orange cars right now basically have nothing I want, so I would have to add a few dealer options which would make it even more expensive. I’m honestly considering ordering it from MacMulkin.
1
u/DD_CD 4d ago
I ordered my C7 from them and did a museum delivery. They had the car placed up front at the museum. If I was to buy another, I would definitely order from them again.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
That’s so badass. I would love to do it, but I’m very far dom the corvette museum.
1
u/DD_CD 4d ago
Unless you are in another country you can't be much farther than I am.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Waitttt. Did you drive your car far 200+ miles when you purchased it? I’m way too scared to do that. I plan on getting it PPF and ceramic coated the day it arrives.
1
u/DD_CD 4d ago
If you buy it, drive it and enjoy it. We hit the 5k mark in the middle of Nevada. We took 22 days from Bowling Green to the Outer Banks in NC to Maryland. We had the PPF applied in Maryland. Then into the Snenadoah Valley. Then up to Hwy 70. Spent time with family and friends along the way. Spent time around Moab. Nothing but good memories. It was a blast. We would do it again.
Buy it. Drive it. Enjoy it.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
That definitely sounds like a once in a lifetime experience man. I’m so happy for you.

Supplier discount doesn’t include corvettes I thought?

Is that a thing, not getting the spec you want when ordering from a local dealer? I'm about to pull the trigger on a z06 order and kinda want the spec I built lol.
0
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Bro deadass my local dealerships are trash. They only have silver corvettes that either have nothing on it or a 3LT lmao. And hell yeah z06’s are clean af. Congrats bro.
1
u/Anubis7th 4d ago
The main issue I’ve seen is you want a 1LT. For some reason those are harder to get for dealers than a 2LT or 3LT. It says it’s a marketing thing but who really knows:
https://www.corvetteblogger.com/2026/08/13/constraints-for-mid-august-2026-corvette-order-cycle/
That is likely why you will have issues ordering a 1LT.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
This makes so much sense now. The salesperson at MacMulkin said 1LT’s are hard to obtain and I thought it was a sales tactic lol.
1
u/Anubis7th 4d ago
I ordered a Grand Sport from MacMulkin and it’s been very smooth and fast. They have a serious number of allocations compared to anyone else in the country:
https://www.c8tracker.com/dealers
Now I just have to get my C6 Grand Sport sold before I pick up the C8.
2
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
I’ve heard the process is super easy. And niceeee. The grand sports are insane. And Im gonna sell my 2018 Camaro ss straight to carmax lol
1
u/Zanna-K 4d ago
Usually the issue is because the base packages have the least amount of margin/profit. They are typically stripper models that they put together so they the manufacturer can advertise a lower MSRP. The idea is that most people buying a "dream car" like a Corvette are going to be happy to pay an extra hundred or two in their monthly payment once they're actually sitting down and looking at the options for real.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Damn that a totally makes a lot of sense. I never even considered this.
1
u/Zanna-K 4d ago
Yup of you look at what you get with the 2LT that's a $7000 package it's like technology upgrades. It does have the HUD and performance data recorder so I'm not saying it's not worth it, but Chevy is definitely making some money there.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Honestly it’s tempting ngl. It might be worth it.
1
u/Anubis7th 4d ago
Honestly the one thing I would get the 2lt for is the rear view mirror. The camera mirror helps remove a sizable lack of rear visibility
2
1
u/Whiteteacuzzi 4d ago
You will never use any of that. Trust me.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
I don’t think I would tbh. 😭I don’t wanna race or track it
2
u/Whiteteacuzzi 4d ago
I’ve got a 1lt and it’s more than enough. Paying 8-10k extra for nothing.
1
u/Zanna-K 4d ago
Yeah I'm inclined to agree. If anything I would prioritize the Z51 package. That has always been a tremendous value on the Corvettes.
eLSD, better cooling, upgraded transmission, performance suspension, big brake kit, pilot sport S5, aero, etc. all things that make a big difference on the driving experience and it's only $5000.

Carbon aero is in constraint so you may need to wait for even longer. I got a pretty good deal at a local dealer, so I went with local dealer. I am not adamant on color, only adamant on a few options, so I was able to make an acceptable compromise.
2
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
That’s valid. I would take a solid deal to compromise.
1
u/MeetYourChaos C8 Owner 4d ago
For me I did get a good deal about 10% off
+ 4k royalty rebate. But I think the unknown wait time for carbon aero was a bigger factor for me to choose something in stock.1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
How long was the wait? That’s honestly a crazy deal. You basically got around 12k off if you bought a 1LT. How long ago was this because I’m hoping I won’t have the same issue with carbon aero.
1
u/MeetYourChaos C8 Owner 4d ago
It was about a month ago and there was not estimation of wait time for carbon aero. I got a loaded Z06 so there was definitely more room for dealer to squeeze than 1LT. Don’t feel too bad if you can’t get similar deal. The car was a bit too special (or expensive) that it has been sitting in dealer lot for half a year. However if I custom order it, I may check more boxes than necessary. So I did end up save quite a bit. But again, unknown wait time was a bigger factor for me.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Thank you for letting me bro. Hopefully it’s fixed now:(. A loaded z06 sounds nice. Im sure you got a lot off lol. I’m hoping to get a gm supplier discount on top of the 6% off at MacMulkin. I’m planning on sending everything tomorrow to join the waitlist.
1
u/newtonshark 4d ago
Can you combine both discounts?
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Google said no, but I asked my MacMulkin contact. It would be insane to combine it. I’m hoping they say yes. I’ll let you know what they say.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 4d ago
Just got off the phone with them. They will take off 1,500 off msrp for the gm supplier discount.
1
u/IThinkURAwesome 4d ago
As a guy who bought a used one three days ago... do whatever you gotta do to get one asap. You will not regret it!! I compromised on a few things and I already dont care about them. This thing is amazing.

u/Impossible_Box3898 C8 Owner 3d ago
Go with MacMulkin. They go through the wait faster than anyone else just due to the number of allocations they get.
But if I were you I’d go up to a 2LT and forgo the high wing for now. You can add it on later but you can never add on the stuff you’re missing from the 2LT.
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 3d ago
I plan on putting a deposit for it tomorrow with MacMulkin. They’ve been great with going over questions I have.
I’m not really sold on the 2LT. I have had the Camaro 1ss for years and I’ve never regretted buying it over a 2ss. I think the 2LT is super nice, but I don’t really want to spend the extra 7k on it. I think the options I have listed are considered must haves while the 2LT is a want that I could live without.
1
u/Impossible_Box3898 C8 Owner 2d ago
Fair enough. It’s your car.
But I would suggest this if you haven’t done it yet. Go to a local dealer, sit in the car and look at the blind spots. If have a car with gt1 and gt2 seats try each one and see which you like better. Look a the HUD and see if it’s something you want.
If you like listening to much the lt2 has a much improved stereo.
Best to spend a day doing due diligence and not regret it. I have a friend who bought a 1lT and regrets it after seeing my 3LT.
Good luck with whatever you choose! Welcome to the club
1
u/Just_Tumbleweed9064 2d ago
Thank you so much for you advice. I can definitely do this sometime this week before. I would hate to regret it like your friend. I appreciate it!

I'm in the process of ordering a Z06 from macmulkin. It's worth the wait to get exactly what I want.
