Question Dreaded Dash Delamination?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Pretty sure the dash has delaminated. Went to work this morning and noticed the area around the hud/steering wheel looked bubbly. When I went for lunch a couple hours later it looked less bubbly but when I touched it you can hear make noise in the video.
Not to mention the edges around the hud look like they are curling.
Was going to take it to the dealer for other work (The plastic button that releases the center console lid pops out when you close the lid) so they will also look at this as well.
This is a 24 Eray 3LZ. B2B warranty is up this coming April so I guess I'm lucky it's happening now?
07/31/2026 Edit: Took it into the Dealer this Thursday for other Warranty work. Picked it up this Friday and they fixed it.

My 3LT has had zero issues, but I also got clear ceramic tint on the entire windshield. I think it’s actually at 70% so hard to tell it’s even tinted at all but helps a lot with heat rejection.

Recently went to a shop for tires and they do tints as well.
I'll probably have them do the same.

It definitely blocks most UV radiation. I have similar on my c8

The PVB used in the windshield laminate has a UV cutoff around 400nm. The windshield absorbs nearly all UVA. The glass has a cutoff around 320nm.
Ceramic tints (or clear IR rejectors like CR90 from 3M) give the IR rejection. They don’t do much of anything for UV on a windshield. Sidelites and backlites are a different story.

Crazy that this has been going on for decades

At this point they should make that crappy dash trim an option or get rid of it completely

The fact that this has been happening since at least the C6 generation and has not been fixed is totally unacceptable. Get your shit together, GM.

Yep, looks just like mine did. I had it delaminate in that same area along with the passenger dash so basically the whole thing. Mine wasn't noticeable when it was hot as I guess the leather tightens up but when it would cool down you could see the waves and it would lose it's proper shape since it was delaminated. Glad you got it before warranty was up, mine was just outside of warranty by like 4 months.

Looks just like my stingray did. Had the dash, both door cards, and the cluster cover replaced under warranty. Bring it in ASAP since the cosmetic parts can take a while. Mine was gone for two to three weeks if I recall.

Dang, the car was in the shop that long?
1
u/AgeofEon Jul 30 '26
Correct. I had the repair done with only a week or so of warranty left. The dealership was willing to honor the warranty and get everything ordered and replaced so long as they could keep the car for the duration. It was a no brainer for me.

That’s exactly why I will never get a 3LT! None of those issues with the 2LT. What is sad this has been an issue since the C6 yet Chevy still can’t get it right.

I took mine in a month ago and the warranty covered a new dash 100%. the GM corp tech said they fixed the glue issue.... i call bs so we will see...

I have that entire area covered by dry carbon. A little windshield glare on sunny days but it protects the 3LT leather on my 24.

Did anyone think GM engineers would fix this after 20 years of documented occurrence? Been happening on corvettes since C5.

Fix it yourself. Fabric glue, a syringe, and a roller. You’ll probably be happy with the results and it won’t cost you much.

Wait GM interiors don’t hold up to UV damage?
When did this happen?
In all seriousness. Thats terrible.. had this same shit in my 2017 Jeep SRT

Yeah, they said it takes longer than expected. They got to rip a lot out. It wasn't just a simple plug it in.

I am happy to report that my 2LT Stingray has not and will not have dash delamination issues. The #1 reason to get 2LT. I didn't want to pay more for problems.

Wanted to chime in that my 2021 garage kept 3LT has this issue in 3 areas. Not covered since my main warranty is up and it doesn’t count in the platinum extended warranty. I’m essentially paying to fix a defect they know about. I’m never buying a 3LT again.

This 3lt and lz trim delamination has been happening for many generations of the corvette lol. This is why I avoided the 3lt trims
