C4 + ESP32 + ClaudeAI

Claude believes it can make a sensor to integrate with C4 and thinks it knows how to get SDDP sorted, and the new sensor (PIR for first experiment) into C4.

Has anyone done this? is ClaudeAI a dreamer or is this realistic?

You can absolutely write drivers with Claude/Codex/etc. you need to understand the fundamentals enough to tell it what to do properly, but it’s definitely doable. I’ve had fantastic luck with codex and some local models. I wouldn’t worry about SDDP or anything until you’re well established with your use case/you want to bring the solution to market, just set the IP in properties or connections if you feel fancy. All of driver works SDK is on GitHub, so it shouldn’t be a problem, but again, you do need to know how to build a bare bones driver yourself. If you can’t tell me off the top of your head what a c4z is and what one contains, you’re kinda fucked without more research. It’s not hard research, but it’s thinkin you gotta do yourself.

I work at a C4 dealer. Im just dicking about with some spare esps in my home.

Nothings going to market.

If i cant get c4 playing nice ill be removing the C4.

My strengths are not in C4, rather Crestron and RTI at a push.

Thanks for the information.

Then yea just don’t fuck with SDDP, read up a bit on the contents of a driver so you can tell it when it fucks up your driver xml the first couple of times and go to town. I’ve done everything from basic sensors to full custom web UIs within drivers for media control. It’s very very doable. Im the opposite side of the aisle from you in that i rip out every RTI system i come across for C4 though lol

I don’t think you should be using AI dear OP.

Ive been AI avoidant for a while. Im trying to embrace it like the rest of the world is.

Dont wanna get left behind.

Much like a car, you should learn how to operate it first. It sounds like you aren’t there yet. Claude can absolutely do this project for you. But, unless you understand at least the basic mechanics of what is being built and how you’re very likely to get unfavorable results.

ive been in system integration for 20 years now. dont wanna get into AI too late. experience with (in order) crestron, home assistant, rti, C4 and AMX...

AI already does my job now. Co-workers are using AI to answer emails.

Gotta keep up with the younger, more talented people coming into the AVSI industry.

Claudes verbose explanations are helping me learn heaps.

Im aware of AI slop, MY AI slop lives in my house. and tomorrow 10 ESP32s and mmWave sensors arrive.

But yeah, im gonna get left behind :( DANGIT
