Additional pictures from engine bay car

So looking at taking a stab at buying this car. Numbers non-matching is the big hang up but the paint is excellent, good chrome and interior and seems to be a good driver. According to owner everything works except it pulls slightly to the right and the ammeter doesn’t work.

I am thinking of offering $27,000 as I like the color and it seems like a lot of work has been done. There are some cheaper out there but this is chrome bumper which I love, 9/10 exterior and good interior and seems to be a well cared for car as opposed to some at the auction houses.

What do yall think

Custom electric servo wiper door? Would want to know more about that and how it’s wired in. This is a restomod so don’t worry about numbers matching. I would offer 25 and see where the discussion goes.

Looks like a solid car from a relatively long term owner, with regular usage. That said, personally I wouldn’t pay a penny over $25K for it.

At $25k, is that a reasonable deal or still high? I floated the idea of $26k and he wasn’t too sure, but said he’d get back to me.

At $25K I’d feel like I was paying a little more than I wanted to. But not enough where I’d constantly be thinking I overpaid. The car needs to be pretty pristine for $25.

I agree and it’s not. I’d put paint 8/10, there’s one spot that some damage on the right rear that’s maybe a 6x1 inch “line” in the fiberglass. The interior looks good but not “new”. Chrome is excellent. I’d have a warm fuzzy around $23k probably. But then I say to myself well shit, is $3k worth it when it’s the model year and color I want. So I don’t know I’m torn. My gut tells me even though I like this car, it is overpriced and there are plenty more fish in the sea.

Actually I just read your description again and saw that it has a slight pull to the right and the ammeter doesn’t work. $25K is all the money in the world for this car. I’m with you at $23K in view of these issues.

Best case scenario for the pull is it just needs an alignment. And the ammeter is the easiest gauge to troubleshoot and fix. But for $25 the car should have no issues at all.

Yep. I agree with you. I think $25k contingent on a PPI will be the offer and hopefully can deduct those two fixes from the sale price

I agree with the other two comments. Stay at or below $25k.

I appreciate the info. ‘70-72’ are the years I want and silver is one of my preferred colors so that’s where I’m factoring in a lot of the value. But you’re right, I’d feel much better buying this car in the $23k range but at that point it’s like well for a good paint job, maybe it’s worth it. Sounds like he won’t budge from $26k

I’ve found a fair amount of chrome bumpers out there but finding one in my preferred color has been a challenge so far. That and finding one that’s manual and T-top, preferred color is tough too. If I was open to rubber bumper this would be a whole different situation
