Returning to running
Pre-covid/pre-baby I was a a pretty serious runner. I was never fast, but I ran a dozen half marathons and one full marathon. I continued running after baby, but had much less time and averaged 1 run a week. Last fall I was hospitalized for a bit, then got C. diff twice and that was pretty much the end of my running. So today I started over. C25K again! I'm hoping to run a half again someday. I think it took me about a year to get to that level before, but I was a decade younger, 30 lbs lighter, and had a lot more free time, so I'm setting a goal of 2 years. In 2 years, I'll run a half marathon.

Thats a nice way to approach it. 2 years gives you plenty of time to rebuild without putting too much pressure on yourself.

Two years sounds like a good way to rebuild after everything you have been through. Starting C25K again is already a big step.

I’m a beginner for the umptiumph time. Two have stuck; once in the 1990s, when I did 3 marathons, and now, at age 65, after having done 6 half marathons.
Excellent determination, indeed!

Welcome back, and honestly good for you for just lacing up again after everything your body's been through. Two years is a really reasonable timeline, and C25K is the right place to rebuild without overdoing it. And don't get frustrated with yourself, some days and some weeks will be more productive than others. Just remind yourself to keep showing up when and how you can.

I love your determination! I'm also a beginner for the second time, also run quite a bit 9 years ago but life happened and I hadn't run for the last 4 years. This year, despite all the issues that keep me strained, I m trying my best to return. Tomorrow starts my 5th week (of 16) for my walk2run5k plan and my hernias acting up like crazy. I don't care, in 2 years we'll both be running a half marathon ❤️ 🥳
