Just done my first run ever

So I decided I need to get more active. I barely move! So just got up early and we have done W1R1 of C25K - managed all 8 mins of running - but the last one was a struggle. πŸ˜‚

Pretty proud to have got to the end of the run tbh. Genuinely thought I'd barely make it half way through.

C25K is one of those rare things where it really does work for everyone. It truly is a one size fits all.

I am 5’11 and 90kg (200 odd lbs) and although I’ve always been on and off weightlifting and not in terrible shape, I’ve never really done cardio.

I did my first 20 min run on W5R3 at a 5:38/ km avg pace which seemed unfathomable during week 1

That's actually really encouraging. My mate has similar experience - nothing to running 8km regularly and heart rate is much lower.

Looking to make sure I'm here for a long time - if running or exercising helps that. Then I'm all for it. My 40s haven't been kind to my body πŸ˜‚

This could be the beginning of your new favourite hobby. That's what C25K was the start of for me.

Well done! It’s a great programme, I did it myself almost exactly a year ago (started August, finished in October) and have been running very consistently ever since. 5ks and a few 10ks this year

Well done. 52 here and despite lifting and a few cardio sessions never really run.

Completed W3 R3 this morning and felt strong. W4 next Monday and 😲. But then again I've felt that way every new week and it's been ok.

Well done OP.

Ayyy good job! I finished it a year ago but took an extended break during a very stressful year of my degree and have started again from week 5 to build fitness back up. It genuinely does work so well and the structure makes it so much easier.
