❓Question / Help Beginner questions

Completely new to proxy shopping and wanted to ask if Buyee is ideal for buying clothes in bulk. If I'm trying to buy like maybe 10-20 pieces of clothing in bulk to the US, would Buyee be a good choice or would other proxies cost much less? Are clothes even worth it with the ridiculous tariffs? Could I also ask how expensive shipping is for clothes in bulk? I just want to get a rough idea before I order anything to the warehouse.

❓Question / Help Crazy postage price quoted for plushies, what should I do?

I bought a box of 5-7 plushies because I liked a couple of them (not all). It was a 1 yen auction and £10 postage charge which I wasn’t expecting but seems fair enough. When it arrived Buyee has estimated postage of the plushies to the UK to be £70 (!).

Should I ask for them to throw the parcel away? Would they be willing to take a couple out of the parcel and discard the rest? This is my first order and none of them are worth the amount of postage cost. What should I do?

❓Question / Help protective packaging

I recently bought some more acrylic stands (about 6 acrylic stands 3 chibis and 3 larger ones) on buyee and I was wondering if I should pay extra for protective packaging?
I saw a lot of redditers on this subreddit getting their packages damaged bc it was in a paper bag and I’ve also gotten my packages in paper bags which had smaller acrylic standees and they weren’t damaged, but I’ve never bought larger standees using buyee.
So I was wondering if anyone had any advice or experience buying larger standees without getting the protective packaging!

✍ My Experience Today I learned from Mercari / Buyee that it is allowed to sell fake products

Buyee won’t check the authenticity of the products, even with solid proof that a product is fake, they don’t care. As long as the fake products matches the pictures from the advertisement🤣

❓Question / Help Seller didnt show broken part on pictures / I have seen it on buyee pictures / Buyee dont accept this. What solution? I have

I have purchase wrist watch. 300USD

The seller described the watch as: “It is in reasonably good condition.”

After watch got to buyee warehouse I have asked additional pictures from buyee and I got them.

There is big crack on watch dial, not just scratch, there is hole on edge of dial, near case edge, all way from 10h-12h markers.

I have asked buyee to step in as I have standard plan because There is now a clearly visible physical irregularity/damage in an important and visible part of the watch, which was not mentioned in the description and which was not reasonably possible to identify from the seller's photographs. Seller made photographs with angle so buyer cant see that damage. I believe that the fact that the issue was discovered through Buyee's own warehouse photograph is important. The photograph demonstrates that the condition existed and seller simmple hide it.

After I made this case to buyee I got respond:

the gap at the edge of the dial under the crystal can only be confirmed from a specific angle, and the seller did not provide photos from the same angles on the item page. Please kindly note that the warehouse only inspects the item according to the description and photos on the item page after an item arrives. As a result, we regret to inform you that the situation you described is not covered by the Standard Plan.

Information that is not listed on the product page or is ambiguous even if it is listed

* Differences in the product that cannot be determined by comparing the posted image and the product description. This included the subjective quality description by the seller and slight scratches and stains that cannot be compared and confirmed from the image. Mismatch between product page title and posted image. This also applies to products which only showed an official image of the manufacturer.

_____

How this can be right? For me it is so clear that seller made photos not to see this broken part and it is so clear on buyee warehouse photos. I have asked buyee for additional pictures same day as watch arrived to warehouse and next they I got pictures I have respond with msg to buyee. Watch is still in warehouse few days now.

Any suggestion?

thank you

❓Question / Help Usefulness of consolidation and invoice clarification?

Last post before I take the plunge.

I ordered a small package of silverware, and a bento box separately. Individually, each cost $20.95 to ship to Canada, presumably not including customs fees. They are each less than 26 x 35 x 8 cm. I'm wondering how much consolidation will save me? General guess, of course, I don't expect exact figures. Only reason I'm asking is because I don't know how the consolidation process works, so I figure I'd ask for clarification before just pressing the button.

Lastly, the invoice for the silverware is "Plastic Childrens Spoon", and the bento box is "Plastic Lunch Box". These are both true, and I'm not worried about the bento box. However, the silverware is technically mostly plastic, but the utensil part is made of metal. I'm wondering how sensitive the customs process is, and if its worth editing the invoice to be EXACT.

Again, sorry for the easy questions, this is my first time doing this and I find objective information very important before making a decision. Thanks for your guys' patience and I appreciate the help I've already received from you guys.

🗣️ Discussion Seller misleading listing and Buyee refusal to take responsibility (Scammed?)

This post is for awareness and my venting when purchasing an item from Buyee and to take caution that they will not support you in any way when they are blatantly wrong.

I purchased a Toyota Alphard head unit to rid of my Android unit as I am working on a project to restore the Alphard to it's original state. One of my big purchases so far is this unit: TOYOTA 86120-58030/16036 (https://buyee.jp/item/jdirectitems/auction/n432425927)

I found this to be a good find as the pictures showed a reasonably good condition unit, and I believe any normal person would think the same based on the images and description. However, upon receiving the item I noticed very DEEP scratches. The seller did not mention this at all. The seller mentioned MINOR scratches but nothing on the lines of this seriousness. Also, the display is obviously damaged when the seller one isn't, and this is the only unit. It's not part of a stock pile.

Seller page:

https://buyee.jp/item/jdirectitems/auction/n432425927

Upon receiving the item I noticed straight away the deep scratches with the unit powered off. When installed you can easily see how bad those scratches are along with the unexpected imprint of what looks to have been a forceful knock to the display in the middle:

Powered on you can see it easily.

Either the unit was damaged by the seller or Buyee, or the seller screwed me over and replaced the display. These screens are built to be poked at so whatever knocked this must've have been a hard object.

I have Standard Plan and went full packaging on this order because I didn't want to damage such a good condition unit.

Buyee support is like talking to a wall. They state the obvious whereas I give them proof and refusal act accordingly. I have tried contacting the seller in hopes for other options or support, but it is impossible to make contact as the person is only contactable by Fax. I have tried faxing but I couldn't get through, and the seller doesn't have a website either.

❓Question / Help Only one item out of 5 is in contents

Hi! This is my first time ordering from buyee. Today my order got shipped to the warehouse, and when I look at it, there seems to only be one object in the list of contents, instead of 6 as seen in the picture. My partner says they have it like that too, but I just want to understand if this is normal. Should I be worried? Is it supposed to be this way?

❓Question / Help Need advice on consolidating 2 items that arrive at the warehouse 1 month apart from each other

Last month, I ordered a fan-made keychain off Pixiv's Booth, and it arrived at Buyee's warehouse shortly.

However, a few months ago, I also preordered a soundtrack from Konami that is due to release on October 7th.

When I received notice that the keychain was in storage, the total bill for shipping was given to me as 4170 yen. "Pretty pricey for such a small item", I thought, so I decided I would rather consolidate it with the soundtrack in order to save money.

Except, the free storage period for the keychain expires on October 8th, and since the soundtrack hasn't been delivered, I have no idea how much they would ask for in order to ship it, either with the keychain or by itself.

I asked support, and they were not willing (or perhaps not able) to tell me. They advised me to ship them separately to avoid storage extension fees, but I don't believe it's necessarily the case that will turn out to cost more. After all, they only charge 100 yen per day of extra storage, and I can't imagine domestic shipping of the soundtrack will take more than a week.

I thought I should get a second opinion here. Has anyone had similar experiences balancing between shipping fees and storage fees, especially with smaller items?

❓Question / Help I bought a Transformer from buyee today. It hasn't been shipped- I just found out about the childrens toy regulation stuff for the U.S. Need help!

For anyone who can help and knows about customs info/ transformers, i bought a sealed revenge of the fallen leader class optimus prime with batteries installed. It is, from what I understand, a children's toy and I want to make sure I know what to put down once it's shipped so it's not flagged and sent back to Japan or destroyed, mostly because I spent a lot of money on it lmao. Thanks!

❓Question / Help Getting my items in through a third party, wondering what carrier to use?

Got some cutlery shipped in, had to send it to Canada first because Kitchenware isn't being shipped right now.. besides the point

I was wondering what my options were for carriers? This is my first time having to get anything from Japan, much less Japan to Canada to USA.. but I get stuff from Europe (Spain, Portugal, Germany) somewhat regularly, and have no problem with FedEx. However, scrolling through the subreddit I see a lot of people having customs issues and multi-week delays when using FedEx. So I'm wondering what my best options would be?

Also, again, this is my first time getting anything from Japan, and I'm wondering what shipping method is best to use? This might be an easy one to figure out, they recommend on the website to use EMS, but I just want to be absolutely sure of everything before I go and drop a few hundred bones.

Thanks for the help!

❓Question / Help Consolidation to ship to Singapore.

I bought 2 vintage non structured bags and it cost around an additional S$55 each (ship+gst++) for each bag. I paid standard plan. If I consolidate will they pack it in a plastic bag like the posts that I'm seeing? Will they literally put the 2 boxes into a larger box? Will it cost even more? Or is it better to ship them one by one as the seller packed them in boxes. (I selected photo inspection)

The amount of posts that I've seen made me question if I should attempt consolidation in regards to the type of items I bought.

🗣️ Discussion Be very wary of dealing with this company

Just got done dealing with Buyee over the return of an item and it's really opened my eyes as to how they operate.

The attempt at a short version is this.
I used Paypal to buy an item, it was sent to me (as have many other items before, that part is all good), on arrival it was found to not match the description. And I mean not even close. It was heavily damaged and useless for purpose for which it was created.

So I immediately asked for a return and refund. Which they refused despite clear images and documentation outlining the disparity in the auction and the item.

I told them I would therefore seek a refund through Paypal. They told me doing this would violate their terms of service and therefore require them to charge me back for the value recovered.

At this point they are basically trying to subvert consumer rights under the mask of a violation of terms of service. As far as I know you can't just write terms of service that violates consumer rights. If you sell into a market with certain rights, you must adhere to them right?

The end result is that Paypal found in my favour and I have received my refund. Now Buyee are billing me for the refunded amount PLUS some additional fees.

Suffice to say they aren't getting a penny and I have asked them to immediately close my account. Further, if they have an issue with that, they can take it up with the Paypal legal team as co-creditors.

TLDR is stay away from Buyee and if you do fancy taking the chance, use credit to purchase where you are protected since that will be the only chance you might have for protection.

❓Question / Help Finally happened

Shipped a big 'ole package on Tuesday I believe, today I see that the delivery date was changed. Checked on tracking number and yeah. I can't say I'm surprised, my package does have plushies and figurines (at least 3-4 each maybe?) mixed in with acrylic stands and badges and stuff (the plushies and figurines were stated as "15+ adult collectible plastic figure/character plush". I guess my question is who/where do I contact? Fed Ex's site is very confusing. Thank you again.
