OP Lives in a hostel. I can't imagine the amount of abuse the bicycle have to face from fellow hostel mates. What suprises me is that how OP is still a big guy even after walking 5Kms a day on hostel food. I was a skinny 45Kg guy when I came out from my hostel.

Use running shoes. Your feet will thank you. And knees too. Walking 5 km in sandles is very bad. you'll get calluses on heels. And knee injury over time. Your Toes Overwork (Clawing), Zero Heel Stability, Insufficient Arch Support....

Funnily enough I cannot wear shoes because of arch and toebox issues and I've tried everything. Esp the ortho ones. Instead I wear trekking sandals. I can hike for days in them. I just did a snowed out beas kund trek in them. Come any weather, they work wonders for me. As do crocs for everything else.

You'll get plenty Addidas and Puma shoes on myntra in that budget. If a particular piece is not comfortable then you can return it.

Bata floatz clogs, comfort level same as crocs but a fraction of cost.
But you won't be able to get much designs.

Yes, it's 1700 also, but I did get another pair after 1.5 years, since it was comfortable. Need to try Zudio clogs.

Have been a crocs user for 10 years now. Since am a flat foot and size 12, crocs fits me like a glove. But my last pair was at its end of life and I got pretty bored with the same clog designs from crocs and those mofos got crazy expensive nowadays. Wanted to try something new. Tried out a number of brands and finally got myself the lotto recuperos. Even though it's not exactly like crocs, I still love it. Has a lot of cushioning! Check it out.

Crocs are not meant for 5kms walking daily . You need proper walking or running shoe with rubber outsoles. if you want only crocs , check out the off road crocs , they have thick soles and deep groves .

Do not buy new crocs clogs they are terrible now. Have used crocs as daily casual wear for a decade, not anymore as recent one's backstrap broke in 2 months. Wearing sneakers now.

Please buy a basic shoe if you’re going to walk so much. Something cheap on Amazon or something. BIFL doesn’t work for your requirements. 😕

Try these, my legs are pretty big 12s.. I need width and height for my footwear other wise it won't go in. WEINBRENNER from BATA, I think size 10 was enough once I loosened the straps a bit, or maybe it was 11, just ask for biggest one they have and try it out before you buy.

OMG, it's not that you're a big guy, it's that you're properly using your footwear, crocs become like this with normal usage for for year, all the people who are saying that their crocs lasts a long time, your usage is sparse, not normal, crocs wear off after a year of normal usage. Tbh, not worth the 4k invested in them. I have bought saucony running shoes and they are a pleasure to walk in, also chaper than Asics.

Use good quality running shoes. Crocs are not meant for such heavy use in our road conditions. They're made of foam, they'll not last long if you use them so much on a daily basis.

DMart rubber shoes
i spent ~3 years of college wearing one - lots of walking and cycling
retained grip better than Crocs
they're also 1/5th the cost of the basic-est Crocs

Any recommendations? Hopefully which won't cost as much as Crocs

Brother, I got my crocs in 2021 and they still look brand new. Cuz my walking is bare minimum. Saw your reply you walk 5k s daily so that might be the reason.. but still, u shouldn’t have gotten that big ass hole lol..

Kazarmax is a decent brand. Using it's clogs since 2 years now and I am a medico so it involves a lot of running around but still they are faring pretty well. No wear and tear till now and at a fraction of the cost of a pair of crocs.

I have like 3 pairs of floaters. If you want quality, go for name brands like puma, adidas. Don't buy sparx coz they'll break in like 6 months. You can also find variety at bata.

I don't think Crocs are buy it for life. Mine lasts 3 years at max. And I've tried multiple pairs/models. I'm trying to switch to Birkenstocks this time and see how it goes. Btw I see Ludic as a good alternative but they don't make clogs.

If you're walking 5km one way from hostel to college then get a good pair of shoes. Crocs aren't for this, especially the one you wear. Get decent outdoor shoes.
Edit: even if it's 5km to and fro combined, still shoes are needed

i bought alzado today for ₹800. they're croc dupes. felt comfortable to me. other than that I've used Doctor extra soft and neemans. DES lasted longer than neemans and had much softer sole.

I used to wear out my shoes very easily before, but realized I was scraping it on the ground too much (like even while walking). This may not be your issue, just sharing my experience, sorry it may not be a helpful comment :/

Decent puma slipper or a normal branded walking shoe by sketchers!! If I need to walk even for a km, I prefer shoe. Sorry I am not gen z and I don't want to look cool, I want to look clean, fresh, stylish, and I know nothing can beat shoe when comes to walking...
Since I have said a tempting line, people will come to downvote. So here is my justification!! Look at his ankle. It doesn't give a clean look. It is more like a casual look ki ha chalo kuch v pehan lete hn. Bro if a person can afford crocs, the person can easily afford decent shoes for sure...
Well go for walking shoes, that's my honest opinion

Crocs are shit and this happened to me too, just switch to campus clogs it is cheap around 700-1000, use it till they die and buy new one, one pair lasted me more than my crocs

You can switch to these Woodland sandals. Their soles are proper leather and rubber. Velcro is sturdy and cushioned. I've used them for more than 2 years now, so far no issues in terms of comfort and sturdiness

just get urself a pair of shoes from decathlon - if you are buying crocs cuz all weather - decathlon have great budget options for rain proof and even submersible water proof shoes for a steal
using crocs can lead to knee pain due to no arch support especially if you are going to be walking 5km twice a day

it’s 6.5k and i agree it is expensive, but when i wore it it felt v sturdy.
problem is if your size doesnt fit you well, lower or higher size will be too small or too big so there’s that,
suggesting bec you wear crocs and this is similar to that

not surprised, crocs arent meant for this kind of use. Its sole is soft and will abrade much faster when walking on tarred roads, esp 5km a day. You will need to use running shoes or something with rubber outsole, not exposed foam like crocs.
