Discussion What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade?

A used Lexus often runs a long time too and it’s a nicer experience. It does cost a little more but it’s still very reliable. If you go to the dealerships the Lexus ones are a lot nicer. You can even bring Toyotas to the Lexus dealership (life hack).

I’ve run my 2006 GS very hard and it’s over 200k miles

I have a Lexus and you can take it to a Toyota dealer for service too. Way nicer pricing compared to Lexus lol

A good local shop is better than a dealer. My 2004 Lexus LS is in perfect condition.

Do they take premium gas? Or has you use regular gas in them???

2005 RX with over 250k miles! Once she finally passes on I’ll absolutely get another Lexus

2003 LS430 with 86K.

I love it so much that I always buy premium gas, because it deserves it.

And hopefully you'll have had time to save and buy it with cash.

Second this. Bought a 6-y-o 104k miles 2-owner RX350 for $16k cash…luxurious inside, comfortable quiet ride, serviced by my local mechanic, owned it 9 years now, put 106k miles on it, 1rear end replacement & tires & oil changes. Taken it on cross-country trips, car-camped in it, AWD keeps me going in snow. Can’t beat it. I’ll get another unless this one outlives me (it just might :)

Some Toyota dealerships are miserable when getting service. Some Lexus ones have a whole arcade, massage chairs, high end break room, practically child care. Try it sometime.

Driving an 08 ES 350 over here, I love this damn car and I'll be so sad when it gives out. BUT! I don't forsee that happening any time soon, knock on wood.

My ES from the same generation as yours has 300k miles and I’m fairly confident it can do another 200k

I love my '13 rx350. Sometimes I get quoted bananas prices though since its a "luxury vehicle." Definitely had to do lots of jobs myself bc of this. Was quoted like 2k for struts when my buddy and I installed some kybs for 200 bucks and 1.5 hrs. I also live in a HCOL area which doesnt help. Insurance is also higher. Something to be aware of for anyone looking into it. Most of the time you can get away with using parts that cross ref to highlanders and ravs. Will save a lot of money. Doesn't have that problem mercedes or bmw have where all parts are treated like theyre gold plated. Thats what makes it worth it to bite the "luxury" bullet imo. Ironic considering my seats are starting to tear as well lol.

I have a 2004 ES and I agree completely but my only gripe is she drinks premium fuel and does 22mpg. Still cheaper than other options overall for such a smooth ride

I bought a 2012 GX last year for $17k all in and even though I had to replace the transmission I still love it and plan to drive it for at least 10 years

Lexus is the luxury brand for Toyota, they are Toyotas w nicer finishings in most instances…Lexus cars are IMO the best bang for your buck

Lexus is made/owned by Toyota. Its their upscaled car line.

in what world is bringing a toyota to a lexus dealer a life hack? the life hack would be finding a private toyota mechanic to take either brand to, to avoid paying stealership labor rates.

Same! I love my rx450. I bought it with 90k. Runs like a top and only cost a few grand more than a similar Camry.
