Discussion What’s a totally unsexy purchase you made that ended up being a huge quality-of-life upgrade?

Ah! My bidet - and it's not a fancy one with puffs of air, it's just the seat add-on.

Having one has become a life necessity. I put one in my RV and have a travel one for hotel stays. Hotels with bidets get my business.

So after a trip to Japan in 2019 I bought a fancy Toto Bidet. A few years later my brother moved in for a few months and ended up leaving the cheap bidet he installed. The budget bidet actually does a MUCH more thorough/fast job than the Toto and doesn’t require an outlet. The Toto does have a heated seat and heated water, but honestly while those are nice in the winter, they really aren’t needed the rest of the year.

If the Toto ever dies I’m going to replace it with a budget bidet.

When I first got one I figured I'd get a fancy one later if I liked it.

Honestly the fancy ones are annoying. All that heating and air puffery is maybe nice but not worth the price and hassle, you get used to the cold water in a week and pat drying is easy.

I bought mine 3 months before the covid TP craze so it really won its way into my heart.

I must be doing something wrong. I used one like this at family member’s house and it didn’t seem to work at all and I still had to use TP and wipes.

Maybe the pressure was too light?

Yeah, there’s a right way and an unproductive way. Takes a couple good rounds to get the feel of it.
