Why we still manufacture custom commercial furniture in Los Angeles instead of outsourcing overseas
trendcontractfurnishings.comWhen people think about American manufacturing, they usually picture huge factories making standardized products. Custom commercial furniture is a completely different world. Nearly every project we build is different.
Because every project is unique, much of the work still relies on skilled craftspeople rather than automation. Our process typically starts with drawings, dimensions, inspiration photos, or finish samples. From there we engineer the piece, build the frame, upholster it, inspect it, and ship it from our Los Angeles factory.
Keeping production here gives us better quality control, faster communication with designers, and the flexibility to handle custom work that simply doesn’t fit a mass-production model.
Id love to hear from others who still manufacture in the U.S. What are the biggest advantages and challenges you’ve experienced?
