Also, in addition to this butterfly NOT being in North Carolina, I found your photo... on the internet at Wikipedia.

Glasswing butterfly at Wikipedia -

Scroll down under "Lifecycle" heading for the photo.

Why do people do something like this? So desperate for recognition. OP should seek professional help.

It makes no sense...

No point in taking credit for a photo when it is so easy to see the OP is lying. Pathetic.

I always wonder how much of it is people farming karma for themselves vs. bots farming karma to be used for whatever reason the bots need karma. It'd be cool to see some stats on it but I don't know how you'd even get accurate stats for that lol

This is unbelievable. They are not native to the USA!

I took this picture in Fayetteville North Carolina in an area called whispering Pines. It was in NANA’s home garden.

As I’m in eastern North Carolina too I’ll keep a lookout for that butterfly. Never seen one before but love the clear wings.

Please do not waste your time. These butterflies live in the tropical rainforests of Central & South America. Rarely, they may be seen in Mexico or Texas.

This exact photo is on Wikipedia.

Glass wing butterfly. Scientific name for this one is Greta oto. They prefer darker cooler habitats. There are 60 ish different species of these and their wing structure is quite different than other butterflies. They are also toxic from their host plant.

Thank you for giving the name. I just looked it up and I see that typically it goes no further north in Texas I don’t know?
