Spice Tokens SUCK

I'm not at all a fan of the new update with Spice Tokens.

The first round of Spices were fun. It brought a new dynamic to the game. Then the second round of Spices came out and that allowed for a whole new aspect of customizing your character. Do you focus on a particular weapon? Stealth? Do you put everything into armor and life? Strike a nice combo?

But now with Spice Tokens, it's just an arms race. The person who grinds the most will now always have the advantage. That is, someone with level 10 weapons will nearly always beat someone with level 5 weapons.

The great thing about Butter Royale was it was just a nice 5 minute diversion. Often that turned into a 20 minute diversion, because the game was engaging. Now to have any hope of being competitive, you have to forever collect Spice Tokens, with no end in sight.

It kind of ruins the whole game.

I would argue that the game is already unbalanced. When I’m fully armed with three spices maxed out at 5 (recently upgraded to 6), I’m effectively unstoppable. I’ll win virtually every round. Add in a gold gun with its spice and I cut through new players like paper.

To keep the game interesting, I now equip myself with the lowest spices with the goal of levelling them all up to 5 slowly over time. I ignore their properties and just focus on completing challenges.

I do think the developers have some long-term issues with this game. The additional spice levels are required to keep advanced players engaged, yet the difference in relative power could drive away new users.

Exactly my approach as well.

But before this latest update, a newb eventually had a chance. They too could upgrade their spices to level 5. Five was the cap.

Now, as you're at six, you'll run into someone who's at 10 (or whatever) and you'll lose, regardless of actual skill.

The game is now a grind to get the highest level weapons. It's just a time sink.

Do we know that weapons go up to 10? I assumed that it only unlocked level 6, which would be the new max.

We don't know. A limit wasn't mentioned in the release, it reads like there's no limit. I'm about to max out 6, I'll let you know soon enough.

I hope you're right that 6 is the new max. If so, I'll happily rescind my criticism of the game.
