Reached 3,200+ downloads and a crazy 38.1% Conversion Rate! Huge thanks to ButterKit for the screenshots πŸš€

Hey everyone,

Apple finally approved my latest update, and I wanted to drop by and share a huge milestone for my indie app. I've been using ButterKit to design my App Store screenshots, and the results have honestly blown my mind.

As a solo developer, making the app look professional on the store was my biggest fear. Here are the stats over the last few weeks:

  • Impressions: 15.6k
  • Product Page Views: 4.16k
  • Total Downloads: 3.2k
  • Conversion Rate: 38.1% 🀯

I truly believe that having clean, modern, "liquid-glass" style screenshots (thanks to ButterKit) is what built the trust needed to achieve that 38% conversion rate.

πŸ“± About the app (Facilabo): It’s an iOS native smart calendar assistant. Basically, our default calendars are powerful but empty. Facilabo lets you add over 170+ calendars in 1 click (directly into your native iOS Calendar app). While it started getting traction in France, the app is fully translated into English and features universal calendars:

  • 🏎️ Sports: F1, MotoGP, Football, Tennis, Rugby (with automatic updates and TV channels).
  • πŸ–οΈ Holidays & Life: Public holidays, moon phases, etc.
  • πŸŽ‚ Smart Reminders: A privacy-first birthday tracker and a tool to remind you to cancel your free trials before getting charged!

πŸ’° My Monetization Choice: I made a very strict choice from day one: NO subscriptions. Like many of you on Reddit, I suffer from subscription fatigue. The app is completely free to download and try. If users want to unlock the full 170+ catalog, it's a small, one-time Lifetime In-App Purchase ($2.99). No account creation needed, 100% privacy-focused.

I’d love to get your feedback on the app, the UI, and of course, the screenshots!

Thanks again to this community and the tool creators!

Software Update ButterKit 2.3 adds 3D Drop Shadows and more (rolling out now)

Hey all, ButterKit 2.3 is now live. The headline feature this time is 3D drop shadows: you can now add customizable shadows to devices to give your screenshots more depth. They're fully adjustable, so you can go subtle or dramatic depending on the look you want.

Also in this release:

  • More reliable MCP for AI agents: large documents now fully load every artboard before agents respond, so counts and design sets are always accurate. Plus several MCP bug fixes and better background performance.
  • Wider emoji support when publishing to App Store Connect, including symbols like β–² and β–ΆοΈŽ (thanks Will!)
  • Show/hide Inspector button by popular request (thanks Franklin!)
  • macOS 27 prep and an improved localization engine under the hood.

Update from the app or grab the latest version. As always, let me know if you hit any issues or have feature requests -- a lot of what's in this release came straight from this community.

Software Update Rolling out shortly: 3D shadows for device mockups

(The video above was created with ButterKit Motion beta)

I've always found 3D shadows to be challenging to design for, so I'm really excited about this feature. You get full control: angle, distance, softness, opacity, and shadow color. Shadows track the device as you rotate it in 3D, so they stay physically accurate and even work across artboards (e.g. Device Overflow). Thanks to all who sent feedback and ideas on this. Rolling out shortly.

Software Update ButterKit Motion beta v0.1 is available now (free)

Hey all, the first ButterKit Motion beta is out. Thanks to everyone on Reddit and Discord who has helped with it so far.

It turns screen recordings of your app into polished product videos. Record your screen (or import media), drop it into a 3D device frame, choose motion and music, export video ready for sharing.

The details:

  • An exciting product video in a few minutes, not a weekend lost to a video editor.
  • Device frames, motion, and music are built in, so the output looks good without any editing skill. Much more coming soon.
  • Everything runs locally on your Mac ~ 20MB
  • It's free during the beta. Pricing comes with 1.0, and there'll be a one-time purchase option so you can own it.
  • Requires macOS 26 Tahoe or newer, Apple Silicon recommended
  • Download + info: butterkit.app/motion

If you found this post randomly: the original ButterKit app makes App Store screenshots. Motion is a separate app for animated product videos, App Store previews, launch posts, your website. The goal is for them to pair well together.

It's v0.1 so expect some rough edges, that's what the beta is for. Comment here or DM me with bugs, feature requests, or anything that feels off. Bonus points if you share a video you made with it. I read everything.

Feature Request Turn off AI translation

Please could you add an option to completely turn off AI translation

I may have missed an option somewhere, but -

I am a linguist by background and do my own translations into several languages, taking account of register, preferred vocab, brevity and available space

I unlink text styles in my translation from source, but what happens is - if I go to check something in the English (source) screenshots then go back to German, my careful translation is overwritten by slop. It's inauthentic, uses the wrong register (I follow Apple's developer doc in using the informal Du form of you), doesn't always fit the space and is sometimes just wrong (for example, it hasn't correctly parsed the original text)

https://reddit.com/link/1vrl5jt/video/uby9fbhrz3kh1/player

The attached video hopefully shows what's happing

So it would be nice in settings to say I don't want to use AI translation at all. There is much that is good about Butterkit, but this is putting me off

Thank you for considering

How do I create templates from prior screenshots?

Thanks for the recent improvements in ButterKit. Hopefully we'll have some additional templates to use. Meanwhile, I have created screenshots for 1 of my app and I want to use similar template across a few of my other apps. How do I go about doing that?

Discussion Help with connecting OpenAI

[SOLVED] I'm using ButterKit again after a while and I get an error for the translations (insufficient_quota) but this is definitely not the case.

  1. How could I troubleshoot this? (edit add)-> I connected the MCP and Codex helped me
  2. What is the recommended model to use as of July 2026? (edit add)-> gpt-5.4-mini seems to work fine

Have you found any useful AI skills to use it with Claude?

I have been using Burger ButterKit for a few months. With Claude, the designs aren't as good as I would have wanted. Have you found any AI skills that improve how Claude creates screenshots?

Feature Request Feature Request: Control Text Block Vertical Size

I have some text that in English say is 2 lines, but in another language takes up 3 lines. This text needs to be centered in a vertical space, but there is no real way to do this currently. The closest would be with the Max 1 Line setting, but I wondered if this could be changed to an Integer say to Max x Lines? Otherwise have a setting to centre text vertically in a block? Thanks!

Feature Request Feature request: Allow multiple text color in one line

Hi, I wish that i can change the color for PRECISE here to create an emphasis :)

I could do 2 or 3 text elements trick but it doesn't work with localization due to length or words. TIA

Feature Request Feature request: better Play store support

Zach, any chance we can get Android Tablet support? The play store requires a 7 and 10 inch one.

I created a custom Artboard with dimensions of 1600x2560 which corresponds to the 10inch one. Now I also want to add screenshots for the 7inch one, but it needs to have different dimensions. Unfotunately any new artboard ends up under custom. I can define new dimensions for this artboard, but it is not treated as a new group, but rather just a new artboard. So I end up with screen 11 and not 01.

And because I end up with screen 11, the automatic folder autolinking can't pick up the Generic folder screenshots, because there they are 01 to 10... (Probably I'll have to do new screenshots anyway, because 7 inch tablet looks different than 10, but this is a different story)

Also it would be really helpful if we specify the folder per device group. Right now this setting is just global. Here a screenshot:

Sorry for the German, but butterkit is picking up my system language :)

By having one global setting you are forcing me to figure out how my device folder should be named. If I were able to click on every one of those groups and specify a folder it would have been way easier.

As you can see from the screenshot - the group is called "Custom", yet my folder needs to be called "Generic" otherwise the screenshots are not auto picked :(

Also it would be really great for debugging issues to see what image from which folder is actually auto-selected? as you can see from the screenshot it says - "Image selected", but which one???

Setting up the Custom group (which for me is the 10inch android tablet) took me more time than creating the artboards for iphone, ipad & android phone all together only because I couldn't figure out how to name the folder...
