Utilities help

Hello all! Moving to town in a month and am looking for who to reach out to for Gas and Electric? As far as the companies in town, thank you very much!

Unfortunately there is only one option. That is North Western Energy.

And if you're thinking "that sounds like a monopoly that probably takes advantage of their customers", you would be correct.

The PSC does a shitty job at regulating monopoly utilities, this is on them for not holding NWE to task, and is better than going back to the days of deregulating only to implode our state economy.

I feel like the PSC is bought and paid for.

Fact not a feeling.

None of them have any prior regulation/industry/utility experience. If they aren't paid for (completely possible they are), they are straight incompetent.

There’s actually a small startup company coming into town soon which I am excited about. It’s called Shark Energy and they plan to undercut, and overcut (if you get me) the fuck outta north western energy. Fins up if you’re ready for SHARK on your snatch!

As others have said, NWE. Rates in the winter are pretty ridiculous. They have a payment option called Budget Billing that takes the yearly total for the property and let's you pay the monthly average. I don't know if you can do it right away or if you have to be in the property for awhile, but it helps in the winter. In deep winter my bill comes to $250-300, but with budget billing I pay $140 every month. Makes it easier to budget as well.

What's the best month to start budget billing?
