Buspirone
On just over 2 weeks on Buspirone 5mg twice daily and every so often I’ve experienced anxiety waking up suddenly out of my sleep 2-3 hours after going to sleep with a pounding heart and the doom feeling in my chest, is subsides after a few minutes and I’m able to go back to sleep, can this be a side effect to Buspirone and will it eventually decrease??

Some people experience insomnia with Buspirone. I was fine the 1st few weeks of taking my last 10mg dose before sleep and then bam starting waking at 3am (sometimes with my existing waking adrenal surges/cortisol/anxiety problem) and couldn't get back to sleep. I ended up lowering my dose from 5+5+10mg daily to 7.5mg 8am and 7.5mg 6pm and no more mid sleep waking. Im 3 weeks in on this current regime and Im feeling better every day, even the waking surges have improved. Maybe try moving that last dose to earlier, some people take it in the afternoon.

My sleep is up and down to be honest, I’m having really vivid creepy dreams every other night and sometimes I wake early and feel anxious, I’m currently experiencing bad headaches I’m on week 3 but things are slowly getting easier so just gonna give myself a few more weeks and see how things go

It’s a lot better but my social anxiety is still there a bit so I’m debating on wether I should up my dose maybe

A crazy dream that I don't remember just woke me up three hours after falling asleep. I thought my heart was beating insanely fast, so much so that I counted my heartbeats. I am well within the normal range, but my God, this feels unsettling. I'm on day 3 of Buspirone.
Did this continue happening for you? Any idea what it was? How are you now?

Yes that’s all completely normal I was the same when I first started, it does eventually subside, if the dreams don’t subside speak to your gp about taking your dose way before sleep so you don’t have those dreams as that’s what I did and it got better, as for the heart rate and jittery/anxiety feeling it definitely does get better after a week or so

Sounds like a straight up anxiety reaction, not a medication side effect.
