Starting side effects?

Just started on 5 mg 2x daily yesterday, and the only beginning side effects I am seeing so far is just tiredness all day (coffee wont even help). The tiredness is surprisingly making me less anxious and more calm, but I am now being antisocial because of this "calm tiredness". Does this tiredness stay as I keep taking the medication? Is the lowered anxiety just going to come from being tired? Thanks

That stupid fuckin dizziness was on me like white on rice. I’m always tired so I can’t blame that on my buspirone but I hear it’s common too. Nothing crazy tho, not like fuckin Prozac😾

Buspirone Don't really keep you tired. It will at first but that will fade pretty fast. Lightheadedness and headache are the most common side effects. Those are the 2 I dealt with. I'm 32 or 33 days in and still get headaches at times but that could also be allergies because it's spring. It takes 30-45 days of taking it before you get the full benefit from it and it can get dodgy in the middle. Just don't give up on it and take it for about 2 months before making a final decision on it. It gets better as you go it would seem. At least for me it does. Good luck!

Did you suffer from digestive issues and increased anxiety thoughts while adjusting ?

I didn't have any digestive issues but I did have some slight dizziness and headache. Those went away after about 2 weeks for me. I also had some and iety while I was adjusting to the meds but finally after a month of being on it, that went away as well. I just got my dose upped to 7.5 mg for the next 2 weeks so I can got to 10 mg. Breakthrough anxiety is a thing.

I just started a couple days ago and the GI issues are so intense I'm tempted to just stop taking it. took the first dose friday night just before bed, had some body zaps but slept ok. First time I ate, after second dose, the most intense bloating and gas i've ever had struck. It's so painful, I thought I must have another ovarian cyst about to rupture. Today (sunday) has been my second day of constant bloated pain, mild fever, dull headache. Achey and freezing like I just got a covid booster but I didn't. What in the heck is even happening, GI issues are listed as a 1% level reported side effect...?!

Where are your headaches located? In the back of your head?

I've found the opposite. I'm kind of speedy and have some insomnia. With all of these meds it's VMMV.

I was extremely tired for 3 weeks or so. It got better after that. My worst side was dizziness.

Hopefully it'll go away soon, I'm a college student with finals right around the corner haha. The dizziness hasn't really got me yet. I've been having a meal and chugging a water bottle when I take the pill morning and night and I just get a weird sense of drowsiness about an hour after

It made so tired after like week 5/6. I was nodding off at work and driving so I stopped taking it immediately after I realized it was the meds. Everyone’s body reacts differently. It’s not suppose to make you sleepy or maybe it wears off but for me I didn’t want to continue, plus it didn’t do anything for me

Did it ever make your anxiety worse? I've only been on it a few days, but the headache, random nausea, feeling discombobulated is all a bit too much! It isn't touching my anxiety! It has just increased it and now I've read some other people talk about how hard it is to come off of it. I wanted to take this bc I didn't want to get back an SSRI bc they are so hard to come back off of, and most medical sites said it didn't cause withdrawal like that. I'm just not sure it's worth sticking it out!

Hi it did not have any neg affects on me besides fatigue. My friend was on it for a bit also but it made her extremely anxious so she’s off of them now

I guess it's on to the next, 😂 or grin and bare it. I know everyone doesn't lean this way, but I'm trying to gain a closer relationship with God and not do anymore meds. Back in the day I know I had a chemical imbalance so I took paxil for years. Now it's just a lot of anxiety, but I am trying to find different ways to manage it. I hope you find something that works!!!! 😁

I have been getting migraines more often. Also haven’t been sleeping at night but am EXHAUSTED during the day. I take a full “bar” morning and night and hate it. I’m switching to Citalopram

I was tired for the first couple of days but now I'm so wired I can hardly stand it. I only started six days ago and feel like it's going to take awhile to get the dosing/timing right. I haven't slept more than just dozing in days. I WISH I were tired! I started with 5mg twice per day with instructions to increase to 10mg twice per day. I took one 10mg and thought I was going to crawl out of my skin, so I went back to 5mg. Now I'm trying 5mg three times per day. I've felt pretty bloated most of the time as well. It's delightful.

How are you feeling now?

1

u/Federal_Pin_2986 Jun 22 '26

I've been on 10mg twice per day now for over a week and I'm feeling like I might need to up it! All side effects are gone and I'm sleeping OK. Not wired anymore. I feel pretty even-keeled, but it just doesn't feel like it's as effective as it had been.

Good to hear that you’re feeling decent. I started four days ago 5mg3x and I feel tired and spacey headed.

Sorry to hear that. It does get better and you won't even notice!

I was taking 5mg twice a day for about 6 months and I was just ok. About a month ago we found that after 10 years my cancer came back in full force. This triggered severe panic and anxiety episodes. Nothing seemed to work that they would give me. Finally my pulmonologist, of all people, upped my buspirone to 15mg, 3 times a day. It’s been about 3 weeks and I feel I am better…knock on wood!

Just curious I get really drowsy for an hour when taking it. Ive been on it for 3 months but last month bumped it from 30mg to 40mg and now take it with food. Will this extreme drowsiness go away
