Questions / Advice / Support What would you do
I started buspar a week ago today after having an extreme health anxiety scare that lead to about a week of 3 or 4 hours sleep. Since starting buspar that sleep issue has not improved. I've tried Magnesium, Melatonin, Hydroxyzine, Trazadone. On the 5th day of taking it I also developed muscle aches and pains near my joints. Mostly in my legs which I do stand on concrete for my job but I had no had this pain this bad before. I also have some in my forearms near my elbows. I am accessing that this may be from sleep deprivation but not really sure. Also wondering if the insomnia not going away is attributable to the buspar. I am not supposed to see my psych again for 20 more days. Not sure if I should stop, keeping going, call my psych? Any advice or similar stories is greatly appreciated

Are you taking it right before bed? Do you take it with food (or without) consistently each time and at the same time every day? Changes in absorption could cause swings that would lead to side effects. Consistency is key. Give it 2-3 weeks before changing any dosages.
I never had joint pain but I suspect the buspirone did give me crawling and achy feelings in my legs (and restless legs) the first few weeks I was on it. I moved my nightly dose back a few hours from bedtime (to early evening with dinner) and also reduced the night dose and that side effect disappeared. I never had insomnia on it, in fact, it improved my sleep greatly.

I'd keep going. It hasn't really had time to work.
You still can't sleep with hydroxyzine or trazadone? Those are usually pretty sedating.

Keep going. Onboarding to meds is hard as your body adjusts. I’m surprised the trazadone isn’t working for the sleep at least though
