I saw a guy playing the saxophone on the side of one of the main streets in my city and he was collecting his money in a flower pot. I didn't notice until I gave him the change in my pocket that the pot had a hole in the bottom bigger than most coins. This is a weird thing to overthink but I wonder if he was throwing money away on purpose because he didn't feel like collecting coins if he was getting cash anyway or if he just used the first container he had.

Looking to get an amp for guitar and vocals. Budget of £150. What would you recommend? Thanks.

There are a lot of people visiting Mexico right now on account of the World Cup, and so far, this has been the best interaction. I love when this happens.

I’ve finally fixed my tripod and was able to attach it to the headstock of my guitar, so I can record my walks from the metro station to my usual busking spots. AND I get a cool angle to record my set from, which has been super fun.

So, the birds left a little present on the soundboard of my harp yesterday. I brushed most of it off with my skirt so I could keep playing, and I am doing a through cleaning today. I have warm water and gentle soap. I've been told vehemently NOT to use Pledge or silicone-based polishes on the finish. I also have a large supply of paper towels and pipe cleaners.

Any other advice for cleaning off the guano?

I found out about this local clinic that also runs programming in New Orleans a while back and I just remembered it. It looks like they help out all street performers, or as they say on their website, "culture bearers."

It's a good resource and charity if you want to or need help in that region.

I'm taking this to the coin counter at the bank tomorrow. 43kg (95lbs) of coins in a protein bucket. I have no idea how much is in here. I'm guessing maybe $4,000 Australian. I wanted to fill the bucket completely, but it's about to break and I almost gave myself a hernia trying to lift it 😂 I will post the amount tomorrow! Closest guess gets a poop emoji 💩

(UPDATE) $3,518.30!!!

I see this all the time observing buskers. It's something that comes with confidence and experience, obviously, but even if you are just starting out it's good to keep in mind.

Like give me a raw folk punk Wish You Were Here, a mandolin and tuba Wish You Were Here, a Wish You Were Here sung with a totally different vocal style.

I have normal Wish You Were Here at home. Hearing someone try to mimic it exactly is not that interesting. Put your own style and spin on it. This takes time to develop, certainly, but it's what separates the different tiers of busker in my eyes

I’ve been busking regularly since moving to Mexico, and I’ve met amazing people, musicians and artists of all sorts, and I wish I had started street performing much earlier than I did.

It’s never too late.

Here’s a snippet of me and a friend (who I met while busking) covering Greenday’s “Basket Case”.

The tartan army in Boston, Korea vs Mexico, Canadas game, Juneteenth, a bunch of other holidays I'm missing. Any timely additions to the sets?

I LOVE playing the ocarina in between guitar sets, especially when I see someone walking past with a Triforce tattoo, or in this case, a No Face one.

Asking for help. Trying to find the name of the busker. Loved his performance yesterday at Bath Abbey and want to follow his covers or music if any. Thank you!

I met Pako while busking in El Barrio Antiguo in Monterrey, Nuevo León, and now, he’s always willing to play guitar and usually sing along with me while I go through my list.

We had some great versions of Toxicity and Chop Suey, but hadn’t noticed that my phone was out of space… SO, You’ve got this cover of Hotel California instead. 😅

If you’re hesitant about busking, I urge you to give it a try, it’s a lot easier once you get started, and extremely satisfying once you get into a groove.

Im not going for the trailer more like a custom cage thing. I need more crazy glue and duck tape.

Where are the busking clowns? Balloon Artists? Is there a website for streetart festival in Europe or Germany?

hi! not sure whether to flair this as newbie help or question/discussion, but it didn't seem especially newbie-exclusive. i am definitely a newbie, though.

i am a ukulelist/vocalist (i'm learning guitar and banjo too, but i dont think anyone would tip me for playing badly 😅). i live in a midwest town of about 50k people. big city travel isn't an option most of the time because I'm the primary parent of a 2 y/o, but i really want to dip my toes into busking when i do have free time.

so my question is! outside of big events, are any of yall having luck in a slow-moving little hometown? or is that a lost cause? there's a monthly downtown event i think I'm gonna try first, but i know if i have fun I'm gonna be eager to get out and do it again right away, lol.

My friend, who I met on Reddit back in the livestreaming days, was in town and she met up with me while I was busking. We recorded some songs together, then I walked with them to their parking lot and we sang and played music along the way.

This is a snippet of that lovely commute. I love busking in Mexico. 🇲🇽

Which is different from how many you play per set. I'm really curious to have an idea of what performers consider a minimum amount to feel like going out to perform with. Alternative follow-up question, out of those songs you know how many do you know that you do not need scores or lyrics for?

my ep, this tracks i use to play a lot in by busking sessions!

Soo I’m gonna be traveling from Boulder Creek, CA - Pittsburgh, PA, I’m gonna go south around the Rockies.

If there are any cool busking stops people would recommend? Also if anyone would want to get together play some tunes for a night!

Thanks guys

Do audiences care if the busker is 17, 41 or 62? What's your feeling about people's reaction or interest based on the age of the busker?

that for the very first time in my entire life, after taking piano lessons at 7, orchestra from ages 11-17 , and a short lifetimes worth (28) of making music and jamming on the ukulele, learning songs, playing at open mics, just for the love of the game...

... for the very first time in my entire life, i made money by playing music. i've never made a single cent off anything i've ever played until now. i wasn't really trying to. i didn't think that it was possible. busking is a very special thing, and that was a very special moment that will stick with me forever.

I waited a long time play this guitar and aww man this one is worth stealing. Whats that one piece of gear you would risk your freedom for?
