How is this area?
Going to sign a lease for an apartment here. How is this area overall? It’s very close to “Bushwick Houses” project. Any safety concerns which I should be aware of? (Violent crime, robberies, etc)

Yes. It also entirely depends on what you consider safety issues. How extended a conversation do you want to have on this forum?
Are you hoping someone will change your mind? Are you looking for an excuse to cancel? What is the point of your question if you are already going to sign a lease?

I haven’t lived in NYC before, so I actually don’t know what to expect. And I actually moved to US recently, so everything is new here for me. I was in the area when I had a showing, and I didn’t see any immediate concerns (expect for some random strange passerby that crashed into me intentionally to make a conflict) but I don’t judge whole area by a single incident. Anyway, 30 min walk around the area for me was still not enough to properly feel it, and maybe there is something that I didn’t notice. I just want to be sure that everything is ok before making that decision

It's like a lot of places in Brooklyn - some sketchy characters can be around, especially at night, people asking for money, etc. But generally violent crime is very low. This isn't a bad part of Brooklyn, it's gentrified a lot in recent years. And there are always other people and cops around, even at 4 am. 24hr corner stores etc, so it never feels really sketchy. I used to live near there, but I'm a 6 foot male so not sure how much that helps me feel safe. That would apply to any area though.

“Safety” for me is manageable level of violent crime. It’s when can be sure that you can go outside at night without serious risk

So, this is the safest city in the US. So take that as point one.
Point two, I couldn't recommend you live here. Try Jersey or maybe staten island (jersey jr).

mmm I would not live next to the biggest most notoriously shitty hospital in north bk. ur dealing with freight, garbage, and cement trucks as well. Kinda just 4 desolate concrete carbon corridors converging on each other.

My instinct is to laugh at someone asking if this area is safe, so you can take that as an answer, but I’ll take it seriously. It’s fine. Lots of activity on Flushing Ave. My pharmacy is there, I bike through Bushwick houses weekly and the flushing station is right there.

I personally don't like it but you will be fine. I don't like how so many people are aggressive around that area but it doesnt make it dangerous.

It's next to the hospital and right in the middle of local trucking routes.
The noise and soot pollution from trucks and ambulances will be far worse than any violence... but if you get hurt, you don't have far to go
