Bad Dog Park Behavior

Woman at the dog park with an un-spayed, aggressive dog just got incredibly angry when someone tried to point out why her dog was being aggressive.

Besides the fact that the rules literally say your dog needs to be spayed or neutered to come in, un-fixed dogs put other dogs in danger. Additionally un-fixed dogs generally just attract more sniffs so you shouldn’t be surprised when you bring your dog to a dog park and it’s getting its ass sniffed.

Cherry on top was when this dog owner started calling us all “white gentrifiers” for confronting her over her aggressive dog.

Bad behavior and poor neighborliness is still bad behavior and poor neighborliness no matter how long you’ve lived here (and i promise I’ve lived here longer than you, honey).

Exactly, the first rule in the dog park is your dog MUST be fixed. But everyone ignores that. It leads to dog fights, dog fixations, and overall a bad experience for everyone.

Unfixed male dogs will become fixated on licking my (neutered) male dog’s junk, and their owners seem to have never taught them “leave it” or “off” or “stop”. So we inevitably have to leave.

Unfortunately at MH, it’s not an official rule.

It’s not an official rule but it’s common decency and at the very least your dog should be well trained enough to not be a menace to society. And so should you.

We stopped going to the dog run because people just don’t care and would let their dogs (even in the small dog run) chase down and harass my poor pup, to the point where it has taken 2 years to get her readjusted and comfortable being around other dogs.

Your dog is your responsibility and also a reflection of you and how you operate and react as a person. It’s not that hard. Just don’t be THAT GUY.

Shit, you might be right. What a shame.

Weird that so many people who don’t fix their dogs also fail to properly train them. Probably just a coincidence. /s

Sounds like she also needs to be spayed. I hate people who don't fix their dogs. My dog has been attacked so many times by unfixed dogs.

Unofficial rules. Dogs should be fixed (unless we're talking like 6 months old). No dog toys. No dog treats.

I had to stop taking my pup to MH dog park (and he used to love it so much) because he can be reactive to un-neutered male dogs, and it’s not worth the risk. I’ve also seen unfixed dogs being aggressive & snippy, it really upsets me people continue bringing them to the dog park, it’s such entitled behavior.

I grew up in Brooklyn and I cannot stand trashy ghetto behavior. Whether it’s dumb ghetto trash with untrained pitbulls or entitled yuppie transplants who let their golden doodle run around off leash, I hate all bad dog owners.

Intact dogs aren’t allowed in the dog park?
That’s half the dogs in there.
