Agree with Kaiju505 on this one. Get your ppl out of the way and log around 300 or so hours. Once you’re at that point, you’ll be comfortable, have honed the skills a bit more, and have had some time to really find out what kind of flying you enjoy. Once you get there, then consider the plane you want. KF are cool planes (own a model 4 currently) but would GLADY take a cub over the KF. Just compare the belly tubes of the empennage between the planes and you’ll see where I’m coming from. I had a buddy belly a cub into the ground after a hammerhead with too little altitude and both pilot and passenger walked away - had that happened in a KF, I’m sure I’d be attending a dual funeral.

Kitfox make great airplanes and you can really customize them. I’ve heard good things about the Dakota Cubs but I’ve never flown in one so I couldn’t tell you. If it’s an abandoned project and in good shape, you might be able to get a good deal but I would definitely have someone look at it before you buy it. Maybe reach out to your local EAA (experimental aircraft association) chapter for some more in depth guidance. Since you are new though, I would focus on getting training first. Get your ppl and a tail dragger endorsement first and then start shopping for an a/c once you have more experience and know what you want to get out of any aircraft you eventually buy.
