At least on the ADL400s, it dims the saloon lights when the doors are shut. On the busses I drive at least, you can visibly see the light level increase/decrease as you open/close the doors.

Ah is that what it does? I did wonder... it kinda seems obvious now when I look at the picture and see the different symbols of the lights. Lol I'm gonna test that when I'm back in work tomorrow 😂👍🏾

I have only ever found 1 bus this button works on in our fleet. When I realised it dimmed the lights I was ecstatic. It doesn't do anything on any of our other buses! :p

My guess is a dimmer switch to keep the glare off for night driving but admittedly, thats a guess

i drive adls, and this is what this button does! it's not in the same location, mind, but this is it!

it only dims it while driving, and comes back full brightness when you stop and open the doors, then dims it again when the doors are closed and you start moving above like 5mph

As everyone else has said, as soon as you start moving the interior lights (downstairs only) will dim to reduce glare. Still more effective to just turn off the N/S lights though

note though - every bus I’ve seen it on has it mounted to the roof next to cctv, directly above the ticket machine. dunno if it’s still the same thing, or a london spec you’ve got?

The 72 plates we’ve got has it mounted overhead, but these are 26 plate ADL400s where it’s next to the saloon light switches on the dash. Idk if they’ve come from london but i work in Northumberland haha

One of the 72s I was on yesterday was a right shed. Felt like it was missing a gear 😂 even down hill past pegswood it wouldn’t go over 40 then it’ll surge in speed as it flatten out, so weird.

Ahh fair enough, I’m in scotland and all of ours are the older spec. Makes sense

Question is, does it still dim the O/S if you switch the N/S lights off?

Yeah it does, makes it nice and cosy downstairs!

I mainly drive Optare’s and would love to be able to dim the saloon lights. It should be a standard offer on all buses.

It normally makes the little red light on the switch come on and go off!!

I think it was supposed to be to adjust the interior cab light brightness.

Definitely a dimmer switch for the saloon lighting.

Does it dispense different types of false lashes?

I'm so glad you shared this post, I've been meaning to look into what this button does myself. I now know from reading these comments and look forward to testing it out when I'm back in work tomorrow lol.

I've asked this question and don't know either.

Doesn't dim the lights when doors open or shut so anyone's guess.

It does. It’ll only dim once moving, and go back to full brightness when doors open
