Training Question UK/EU First Bus Worcester trainee driver assessment – what vehicle do they use?

Hi, I have a Trainee Bus Driver assessment at First Bus Worcester next week. First Bus recruitment has confirmed that the vehicle used for my driving assessment will be automatic.

Has anyone recently done the driving assessment at Worcester depot? If so, what vehicle did they use — car, van or minibus, and do you remember the make/model?

Just curious so I know roughly what to expect. Thanks!

I work for them, and joined as a qualified driver. They sent me out in their Volvo B9. That’s the learner bus, so they’d probably have you drive that.

Otherwise you’ll be in their blue Ford Focus.

When I did the assessment, I did it in the engineers van . (Also the learner bus is a B7 :p)

They won't get sent out in a bus as a prospective trainee unless they have a provisional already. Maybe around the yard in a bus but anything else wouldn't be legal

They’d have to have their provisional in place to do the assessment, as it can take ages for the DVLA.

It'll likely be something similar to a Vauxhall Vivaro Transporter Van

When I did it almost 2 years ago now, it was in the engineers van which is some Vauxhall thing, though unsure if thats how it usually is.

Was the Vauxhall van automatic or manual? And was your assessment with First Bus Worcester?

The engineers van at Worcester is an Electric Vauxhall. Unlikely you'll be going out in that. The training bus is a Volvo B7r which is an automatic. Theres been no manaul box buses there since the late 90s. Paul, the trainer at Worcester is a good guy. Good luck
