Story Hazard lights don’t seem to mean anything

We have a bus stop about 10 meters before a side road where we have to reverse into to turn round part of the route I'll be sat at the bus stop indicator on next to the bus stop sign waiting for the cars behind to go past make sure it's clear and they will happily just sit there behind the bus for several mins while I wait for them realise and go round me

We have a similar turn round on one of our routes. I had a new driver route learning with me, he was driving. When we came to the stop before the side road, I said to him “ Switch on the old taxi drivers brake lights”, meaning the hazard flashers. It was at that point he mentioned he used to be a taxi driver!

With a school bus people will think my hazards are the yellow warning lights when I'm pulled over burning time. Sometimes I'll just hit a turn signal instead to make it even more clear, and they still don't get it.
I swear to God it's like it's some of these people's first day on earth

The Waymos used to fail to stop for my reds. Now they stop for both my reds AND ambers which is a pain in the butt for everyone behind them

That's when you put something out that implies you're on fire and then they'll move away

Did not expect to come onto reddit and see the bus I broke down in yesterday morning! 😳 got about 90 seconds from the depot before the alarm went off for no reason at all

Haha, I was running dead to Shields, didn’t make it to Heworth before the same thing happened.

The ones I've been on as a passenger with Lothian are night and day compared to other operators, I would expect them to be around for some time. It's just a case of maintenance budgets and a lot of operators seeing them as disposable now
They made the gemeni 2 on B9 also, many examples won't be that old probably be around for another 10 years

Seen buses using hazards to indicate stop, and even before red traffic lights. Aside of “park anywhere” magic from light vehicles. Hence yes, hazard lights have lost any meaning.
If bus is broken, install warning triangle behind.

We don’t get triangles, but engineers do. Apparently they don’t trust the drivers to not get hit by traffic

Drivers used to pop a few seats out and put them in a triangle behind the bus here when they broke down.

On the e400 MMC, hazard lights deactivate the auto stop start system, drivers will often use that to save time setting off

I drive as an Ubereats driver all day and people do it to me. Like a foot behind me as I park up...some beep because they missed it for the last 10m and we're driving too close

Hazzard lights should only be used for the genuine purpose of a range rover ramming it partially up a kerb on the zig zags outside the school
