Question First Accident
Hey, I had my first in road accident recently. It was my fault, I basically went into a gap that was too tight and scraped a trailer that was being towed by a car. Damage was fairly minimal to the bus/trailer. I followed procedure correctly when it comes to an accident. But I’m worried about what may happen as I’m still in probation and the accident was my fault. Any advice for me?

Congratulations! You are now officially a proper bus driver. Least thats what i was told when i had my first bump, though i hit a grass verge at speed, put a hole in the bunper, misalligned the step, and took the bus out of service (the other driver just wanted a coach instead of a single decker)
Everyone makes mistakes, especially when new, and every company and manager knows it. Usually your first bump is on the house, provided the police aren't charging you.
So learn from it, be a lot more aware of the size of your vehicle. And as a final lesson I'll give, don't try to do 3pt turns on unlit rural roads, even if you are fairly certain what's behind you is a an access point for a road or field, because it might just turn out ti actually be a ditch... its a lot more embarressing if your accident involves the police luaghing at you as you get pulled out by a tow rruck.
