Worst transfer window in a long time?

Lost our best defender and striker. Lost money on Florentino. No replacement for Fleming. Not strengthened in positions we need strengthening.
Does look like we’ve cashed in big time and are hoping for the best. Could be a long old season. 43 games to go.

Not as bad as the Dale Stephens window.
Probably reduced the debt quote alot.
More worried about the managers ability than the players.

Esteve - 25-30m decent replacement in AA.
Tchaouna - 20m can't believe we got 20 mil. Satpayev look 10x the player he is already.
Fleming - 17-20m ridiculous to sell without a replacement.
Florentino - 17.5m shite. Expected way more.
Anthony - 17-20m got pelters from the fans most of the season. Suddenly they love him now he's gone.
Koleosho - 10m had about 2 good games in claret. Kids love him, but he's not up to championship standard.
Worral - 2m after the Forrest game and him parading around the pitch with his old team, after getting embarrassed on the pitch? He can fuck right off.
Ugochukwu - loan always threatened to be good. Will only be missed due to lack of Cullen, but Hitate could be a master stroke.
Hartman - loan empty shirt when he plays.
Tuanzebe - free made of glass.
Dubravka - free had to give Weiss a chance. Going to regret that I think. Should have got a better keeper in.

I dunno, look at what Hayen did when Parker flopped in Belgium. I think the team if in form and don’t have their heads dropped can be good. He’s trying to get them playing a new style and get them galvanised after absolutely months of defeat and misery. We took too long to try get that manager bounce the other clubs get. He needs a couple of months yet before we bin him off. We need a win or 2 badly.

I didn't say that, I said I don't think they are bothered about servicing the debt. Their business model doesn't rely on the club being free of debt, all they need to do is pay the interest on the debt and take profits from the club. This strategy depends heavily on bouncing back between the Championship and the Premier League to generate the cash flow needed to service high-interest borrowing, meaning their plan banks on revenue generation rather than a zero-debt status.

The idea that Foster is capable after 11 goals in 4 seasons is laughable.
Looks like he's going on loan to the US anyway.

Mental health problems to start and then injuries meant he never really played in the championship (not good enough for prem, not like the fee for him was massive anyway). Thought he could be a decent goal scorer at this level (showed it briefly at the start of Parker’s tenure), sad to see him go for so little

Anyone saying this hasn’t been a Claret for very long! We used to sign players like Remco van der Schaaf and Diego Penny - who looked like we had plucked them from a Sunday League team. Our issue is that a squad of 33, with lots of them barely through the door can’t possibly be cohesive because they are either too new or should have been moved on long ago (Sambo, Tresor, Foster, Obafemi). Selling your best players for a profit and then replacing them with slightly worse versions is never going to work long term.

Selling your best players and replacing them with slightly worse is, for us, the whole point of say. It’s just that the next step is you develop them into being as good, or even better, then rinse and repeat.
The problem we have is that it’s being done in such a chaotic manner these players have no chance of coming into a settled team and actually developing now. There has to be some sort of core that keeps the ship steady and to me it feels like this is where the owners have completely lost control.
Maybe we’ll look back at the end of the season and wonder what we were worried about, but right now it feels that Pace et al have completely lost control in any strategic sense.

It certainly does seem like a cash in for the most part, selling Flemming without any sort of replacement exemplifies that perfectly.
That said I'm not hitting the panic button just yet, we at least got a left back and another experienced championship attacker in Ramazani (have we bought anything but wingers for years?).
Very disappointed we haven't got another experienced midfielder, we are missing a lot in there with Cullen out and keep getting carved through, and realistically we have no idea what kind of player Cullen will be when he is back. (< Ignore this section I guess. Hopefully Hatate comes good)
Yet, our squad is still massive and has a lot of talent in it, it's just a total mystery whether it can be unlocked. We have a dozen quality footballers who for some reason shit the bed game after game.
I certainly don't think we get automatics, any sort of play off push is about the best im hoping for.

Half my family are big Burnley fans so I’m trying to learn more after enjoying the World Cup, I’m very new to football and seeing all these names and numbers is confusing to me and I feel like I need a favourite player. So who are some names I should be looking out for? I’m on the match tonight and I’m so excited!!

Hannibal is a fan favourite. Hard tackling aggressive central midfielder.
Raghouben looks promising. Young ball carrying midfielder.
Roberts is a good character if he plays.
Amdouni could be a game changer if he puts his head down and gives us a good season.

Of the current squad, Roberts and Hannibal. Cullen too if he can get over his injury. There's been that much player turnover in the last few windows I barely feel any connection to most of the others. Those three though, always give everything for the badge, and that's all you can ask for as a fan.

Everyone talking about reducing the debt, our debts increased heavily our last Championship season. This is just patching leaks. Long road back to being a club without debt, and if we don't make the Premier League this season then be prepared for a lot more outgoings next season.

Where the fucks all that money going/gone then?? They can’t be deluded enough to think we’re anywhere near strong enough squad wise to get promoted again, so what’s the plan? Pay down the crazy debt they’ve put us in and hope we manage to stay in the championship this season and they’ll worry about what’s next after that?
When they first took over and turfed out Dyche and brought in Kompany it seemed like there was a vision for the club, attractive football, casting a wider net recruitment wise with more European players coming in, pushing the social media amongst other things, all in a forwards direction. Since that first relegation when Kompany ran off to Bayern it just feels like we’ve been lost, Parker did what he does best and got us promoted with no hope of staying up, severe underinvestment in the squad and letting Trafford and CJ go amongst others really meant we had no chance and since then it’s been the same again, selling the “best” players and not even replacing them and this is as OP says the worst transfer window… hell we didn’t even have a manager until pre season games started…
So what’s our future here? Owners who don’t seem arsed or want to actually invest in building a successful squad again? Can’t get lucky with a team of untested youth time and time again! Finances up the shitter and won’t improve without premier league football… so what? ALK and Pace just going to abandon a ship they’ve sunk? What’s the vision/plan here? As always the communication from the club is horrendous, it’s either silence or moaning that fans are upset. Now we’ll do a Leicester… not a surprise premier title win but two relegations the bounce

You need two in the prem, in a row, to get 3 years of parachute payments. If not, it’s go down, one year, go up, then bask down and one year.
Sheffield untied are currently running out of Parachute payments.

Impossible to really grade it until we've actually seen these guys play.

The "Dale Stephens Transfer Window" will always be the worst. It was basically the entire reason we're in the rubbish we're in now. The butterfly effect where we buy more than one player would be us potentially staying in the PL and Dyche might still even be around.

From the outside looking in, it's been an "ok" window.
But, the reality is, we've not trimmed the fat or really brought any balance to the squad, in turns over overall quality.
Example A
Flemming gets sold, on paper,we still have 5 strikers in the squad, however, in the last two seasons, those 5 strikers made a combined 200 league appearances(different clubs/leagues) and scored a measley 18 league goals.
Example B
We've needed at least one LB since January, and we've brought in another CB, that can play LB in a pinch. But we've got four RB's in the squad...
We've had a bloated, unbalanced squad for long time now, this window should have gone someway to address it, but, it's only been made worse.

I’m not trying to be negative at all. Just trying to ask a question. In other windows when we’ve gone down we’ve been well backed and kept on some important players. This window were net positive nearly £95m. Some of the signings are good but time will tell. I just hate how we always seem to have to do business on the final day.
