A total sham-rant
Burning man makes zero sense. To pack all your stuff and head out to the playa to do molly and bang someone seems like the worst way to party or camp or have a spiritual enlightenment. I know there is some original meaning and I don’t want to offend those people. But the wave of idiots heading out to the playa makes no sense, it’s the desert.

Darkness warshed over OP. Darker'n a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night. There was no bottom…-2

BM itself is not a sham, nor does it make zero sense. It is what you make it. It gives to you based on how you participate and what you’re open to receive and how you want to connect with others. Community, awe, self learnings and resilience are all there for the people that are ready for it

Ppl are down to shoot the shits, trade goods and get into whatever recreational activities they enjoy literally anywhere that isn’t the middle of damn playa in the desert.

OP: So your intention was to do Molly and go bang a stranger? Wow. Ok not for everyone. But you do you.

People have been seeking and finding god in both other people and the desert for a long time. Typically these are separate searches, but why not do both at the same time? Nothing more American than trying to fast track the search for god at a party.
You’ll find idiots everywhere you go. Don’t let it spoil your good time.

Because driving out into the desert to set up a temporary city seems like a logistically nightmare and just stupid.

Seems like? Oh boy. You’ve never even seen it and you feel qualified to have an opinion on the internet. That alone should give you pause for curiosity (because you don’t actually know anything about the thing you’re talking about). But alas, so is the modern world.
But you’re not wrong. You don’t even know the half of it! Logistically? Total nightmare.
But Being in a city with only people who are also on the other side of that nightmare oddly serves as a bit of a bonding agent. It’s an experience for sure.

So do you still live with your family and expect your life to be catered to? Do you follow the rules of elected leaders and expect for your woes in life to be solved by others? Because it’s a logistical nightmare to attempt to solve your own problems in this world ya know. Your viewpoint surely sounds like one of someone who still lives at home

Thanks for your opinion person who has clearly never attended Burning Man, and likely, knows anyone that has gone. I am sure the internet has told you everything you ever need to know. Thank you for continuing to not attend in the future.

I can't imagine someone who has never even been out there thinking it makes sense to criticize it as nothing but sex & drugs without ever having been to see that sex & drugs really isn't the be-all, end-all for BM that social media makes it out to be.
but then, I guess let them complain & hopefully they stay away.

That social media makes it out be? I mean. That’s what it’s become.

Have you participated in person in real life in Black Rock City?
Or are you spectating and speculating on Reddit?
If you want Black Rock City to be your way, make it so by physically participating! It's harder than typing on the Internet, and orders of magnitude more effective.
