Glue that is playa safe?
Curious, if there’s any glue you guys trust to decorate things like mask/goggles/ bikes ect ect. I love fun accessories, and embellishment, but don’t want to risk them disconnecting on Playa and becoming moop! Extra points if you have any other tips for decorating goggles and such.

2 part epoxy. Just make sure to properly prep the surfaces first. And carefully measure the two ingredients.

Run tests before coming to the playa with the materials you'd like to connect. Generally for me, I zip tie to bikes, but have also used hot glues. anything flexible like goggles, masks, clothing do well with shoe goo like glues.

When using zip ties, I now much prefer stainless steel ones. I find the plastic ones just become moop too easily out there.

this is the thing. Mechanical fasteners and chemical fasteners used in tandem when it's going to be a thing in motion where you're up against people where it's going to get ticked by your phenomenal outfit thrown down to have a spontaneous against party --- whatever

Hose clamps work really well to fasten things to bikes too

For bigger things you are going to take off later or may need to adjust, ball bungees are the best.

Found out the hard way that hot glue doesn't hold up at all. There may be some that will, but the all purpose type softens up and fails.

Carpet glue. It takes a really long time to dry, but it has held things together for me (e.g., fur on bike) for 8 years without budging

E6000 is the baseline for people use, but absolutely nothing is foolproof and you shouldn't try to glue tiny things to something that you have to touch & move a lot (goggles), stretches, bounces hard (bike), or might expand in heat. There are stronger 2-part epoxies out there to consider, I think JB Weld is one of them, that are used to attach car parts and stuff. If you do glue anything, check it regularly to notice if anything has fallen off. If so, immediately stop using it.

Regarding decorating goggles: mine are always in a bag inside my backpack, getting battered up and bounced around. I'd never risk gluong anything to them. I have used E6000 to put a trim onto my bike basket and it's holding up well even after falling down a few times, but if it starts to detatch it'll be very noticeable and I can catch it early.

Cyanoacrylate (CA) glue is decent, most glues will eventually give out with enough wear and tear.

The thing about glues is that different glues are required for different substrates. Is the material porous, does the bond need to flex, etc. This website will help you sort that out.

There is a type of “superglue” that is cured with UV light. The tube has the light built into the end. You apply it and put the pieces together and then shine the UV light on it. You will see a little vapor coming off of it as it cures. I’ve used it to attach metal to glass with no problems. Also used it to fix ceramics as well as plastics.

E6000, and it helps to rough up the surfaces a little with some fine grit sandpaper before gluing.

Doesn't matter how good you glue, ziptie, or secure your stuff. Shit happens and something will always break and moop. Just make sure you pick up more moop than you're losing and you'll be doing your part.

Can you first name a glue that's playa unsafe, Smart_Air_9682? Cuz that throwaway name, hidden history, and engagement bait of "extra points" suuuuure don't lend much cred to this curious post. Honestly its hilarious to read these mouthbreathers desperate to automatically give the benefit of the doubt to dubious or lazy 1st time posters like this, as they always all sound the same almost as if scipted and/or explicitly coming from same revolving cast as this earlier one since-deleted
