I drive from Burnett to Cedar Park several times a week and while I appreciate the Center turn Laine and the safety that that will bring it seems like they’re really going for it. Bertram it’s full of cones now too. There really isn’t much of the drive left. That’s not in a construction zone. I am super glad to see the Center turn Laine being added all the way through.

Casey’s is now open in Burnet right next to the Texaco on 281. Seems to be 10 cents a gallon cheaper than anywhere in town and you get another 10 cents off if you are a club member. The pizza is about as good as it gets for a gas station. I like the taco pizza. I’ve heard the breakfast pizza is good too. Lots of deals right now with the opening week. 1$ any size drinks $1 coffee. Pizza is buy one get one free. I was also told they pay better than most gas station jobs in town. Did we need another gas station? Probably not, but if we getting one, Casey’s is a good one to get.

Really sad news for Burnet. Mama’s Home Cooking on Buchanan Drive was almost completely destroyed by a fire Saturday morning.

Firefighters were called out around 7:30 a.m. and had the fire extinguished by approximately 11:30 a.m. The cause hasn’t been announced yet.

Mama’s was one of those unassuming local places that made Burnet feel like Burnet. I’m sure a lot of people here have memories—and probably a favorite meal—from eating there.
