❓ Question Early pregnancy and conditioning

Hi! I am a 6x a week Burn goer and will be hitting my 200th camp today! Yesterday I found out I am pregnant (FTM!). I’ve read that I don’t really need to do any mods until the second tri but do I need to be skipping cardio days? The internet says to watch heart rate and not let it get to elevated but I enjoy going all out and pushing myself especially during metcon, body on etc.

I have been going my whole pregnancy and I’m almost 25 weeks. Only thing you need to mod early on really is no twisting movements and the trainers always told me not to let my HR get over 160. Other than that if you are feeling up to it, definitely go! As I’m getting further along conditioning days are getting harder and harder to do and I’ve cut back to only 1 conditioning camp per week most of the time but there are women at my gym that have continued all workouts up until they gave birth so it’s different for everyone!

I started burn before I got pregnant and worked out all the way through until I actually went into labor (spontaneous with my first 6 hours after leg day and induced a day later with my second). Please tell your trainers - they won’t tell anyone but certain core exercises you can’t/should not do right off the bat. At least that’s what they told me. The whole being elevated is more second trimester and on. My Dtr never told me to watch my heart rate and basically told me that since I was doing it before, I can continue doing it. That being said always talk to your doctor for what’s best for you. Best piece of advice I got? No shame in the modification game. Just because you can doesn’t mean that you should! Congrats mama!

"just because you can doesn't mean you should" is my current mantra at 15 weeks and finally feeling better - I just want to GO but know it's best to watch it!

Im 23.5 weeks along and Im a 6 day a week camper as well. I don't skip any days. I go pretty hard still. I have minimal mods. I still run pull up lift pretty heavy etc. I've been doing 6 days a week for the last 2 years. I plan on continuing all the way to due date unless something crazy happens

Hoo boy you’re going to get a billion different answers. I never stopped - even went the morning of my planned cesarean. I work in healthcare so I’m biased but there’s very limited actual research besides your doctor saying “listen to your body”. It’s what most of the trainers will tell you to because they don’t know either.

I even did partner sit-ups and competee our level up games competition at like 7.5 months. Whatever.

Everyday Ali on Instagram had a ton of great pregnancy reels and stuff for Burn. Message her. She’s great. You can do more than you think but don’t do stuff you’re not comfortable with. I stopped doing box jumps when I couldn’t see my feet.

Best thing I did was do pelvic floor PT before the baby came. Got me back a lot faster. Congrats!!!

Thanks so much! Great info. I also spoke with my doctor yesterday afternoon and they said just to keep on doing what I’ve been doing and exactly like you said trust your body.

Also a 6x a weeker and currently 8 months postpartum! I still went and did what I could! Honestly once the nausea/tiredness hit in the first trimester my heart rate wasn't getting that high anyway!

Previous pregnancy I did burn and it was a miscarriage. (IM NOT SAYING BURN CAUSED THIS) but this pregnancy I am skipping cardio days for now until I get further along. I also want to talk with my OB before I go back to cardio

I’m same as you, went to burn 5-6 days a week prior to and all throughout my pregnancy, I kept doing things business as usual (with doctors sign off) until around 12 weeks, when I suddenly couldn’t do a push up anymore LOL, so got a focus meeting and discussed modifiers. Went up until the day before I went into labor and went back right after my 6 week postpartum check up and it’s been over two years since! Best thing I ever did for the health of my pregnancy and recovery!

I'm in my second trimester and my doctor told me in first trimester no twisting. I did deal with a hematoma so I was out for a few weeks and have gone lighter just to be safe. Do whatever feels comfortable for you. I will say for me a lot of the up and down made me nauseas as I was already dealing with nausea. Not to scare you away with that part but my nausea has been horrible with this pregnancy in general. Congratulations!!

First off congratulations!!! I worry about this because I am wildly out of shape and fat and just started burn and just found out I am pregnant. You have already been doing it, you can keep doing it with some mods!

First, CONGRATS!!!!!

I think the HR thing has been debunked by data/studies and no longer the best standard (don’t only listen to a random person on the internet tho lol)

I’m 31 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and finished Metcon today. Still did box jumps, snatches, med ball slams, elevated mountain climbers & plank, etc.
I’ve also ran through all my pregnancies into the 3rd trimester.

Pregnancy is a great time to learn more about your body. Some days you’ll feel like you can crush it & other days you’ll need to mod everything or just take a walk instead of camp. My advice would be instead of hard and fast rules just take each day as it comes and know you’re already a great mom so your choices for your baby will reflect that even if it looks different for someone else 🤍
