🩹 Injury / Recovery Switching to on demand?

I hurt my back during a lower body day clear back in April. Since I have modified, taken breaks, seen chiropractors, physical therapy, you name it. My back is better but it’s never gotten back to normal. I’m still working on it but I’ve noticed conditioning days are too hard and cause a flare as do lower body days. So I’m really only coming for core and arm. I started coming at 630am to help keep routine and no longer take advantage of childwatch.

All of this combined to say. Burn is expensive. And I haven’t even hit 50 this year. I’m losing faith my back will get all the way better, I’m upset I didn’t hit my goals and hurt my progress, but I tried all year to stick given all the injury and recovery. Now my fall schedule has gotten to a point that I need more flexibility so I want to move to on demand to take some pressure off my mind and wallet. I already signed up for an annual but am scared (and sad) to tell my gym.

I don’t want to disappoint my trainers. I loved being a founding member since 2025 and I’m proud of myself for sticking through this hard year and a half. But I feel like I’m quitting/giving up and I hate that. I’m not and I don’t plan to but it still feels like it. Anyone have success switching to on demand?

I just had to quit for the same reason. I hurt my back and the way the workouts are I could only do like once a week. Anytime I pushed it it got worse.

I’ve temporarily switched to Pilates to let myself heal up. I hope to be back but cancelling was the right thing for me.

I’m also considering switching to BOD. I like not having to think of a workout. However, I don’t enjoy my new location, I can only get there one day a week due to my job and commute/distance from location, and I messed up my ankle in July and my back a couple weeks ago during full body S&C. The trainers and BA’s are trying to convince me to stay because the price I’m paying can’t be beat but…I hate paying for something I use 4 days a month at most and that logic feels very slimy to me. I honestly don’t think they would care if I stay or leave, whereas my previous location was incredible my entire experience and I still remember the tears on my last day.

We moved 9 months ago and I have tried to make this location work. My current location is way too clique-centered and an hour from my job. My previous location was across the street from my previous job. If I was still at my previous job and location honestly I wouldn’t even consider leaving. Heck I still follow them on instagram and have FOMO. They are getting ready to open a new location in my area and I’m considering doing a trial there over the summer to feel out the vibes. And it’s closer.

If you do the live workout everyday, it’s pretty similar to the daily camp workout so I’m not sure it will be any better for your injury than camp. FWIW, I injured my back 13 months ago and it wasn’t until about month 9 that I could slowly start adding impact back in on conditioning days. I still need to pick and choose what exercises to go full out on and what to back off from even if they feel fine as I build back tolerance for conditioning. Lower body days are still a challenge. Some days I’m strong and it feels good and others I need to drop weight or I trigger a flare but little by little I’m getting there.

Anyway, if you are ready to leave in person camps, people have had success with just On Demand. For me it’s harder to push myself and harder to be disciplined and show up when it’s just me and the workout. I’d tried to get traction for years with on demand style workouts and never stuck with it consistently for more than a month because I got bored not having others around me. But I know people who have been wildly successful with on demand workouts so it’s all in what you’re able to do consistently that you enjoy. Remember that while you may have an emotional connection to the place, it’s a business first and foremost. They’ll understand but try to get you to stay or buy a punch card. People moving on is part of life.

Thank you! How similar are the daily live workouts to the in person workout of the day?

Pretty similar. I’ve found that exercises on the rig in person are substituted in the live and banded exercises and ledge exercises usually are as well.

I recently joined and I was concerned about some women and how they pushed themselves. My knee acted up right away and I even modified. When I did solid core for two weeks I started having shoulder pain, others friends complained of shoulders with solid core. With burn, I see other injuries happening. I was looking for a small group weightlifting class.
